THE TRENDS

Red

Red is going nowhere soon. The colour of choice over the past few seasons, Tibi, Proenza and Khaite all went fully tonal with their styling this season – leaning into a more crimson for spring with a range of matching separates.

Dramatic Texture

Proenza Schouler and Ralph Lauren both featured heavy fringing in their collections. Ralph Lauren’s Western-inspired collection paired fringing with long-sleeved lace, whilst Proenza’s heavily embellished strapless dresses were worn alone. Elsewhere, Prabal Gurung set a moody tone with an all-black look that combined supple leather with floating organza.

Oversized Silhouettes

Fashion Week is all about redefining modern style with dramatic pieces and oversized silhouettes. From voluminous wool coats to exaggerated organza capes, designers this time embraced larger-than-life proportions to make a more powerful statement.

Sheer Fabrics

Once again, sheer fabrics are a prominent trend for SS25. Jason Wu showcased dramatic floor-length tulle dresses, while Grace Ling presented organza suiting. Meanwhile, New York stalwart Ralph Lauren opted for an elevated take on the trend with an ethereal, flowing maxi dress.

THE SHOW

Carolina Herrera has been a NYFW mainstay for over 40 years. Wes Gordon took the helm in 2019, but he’s maintained the brand’s signature feel to this day. Opening with sleek black-and-white ensembles inspired by the packaging of Carolina Herrera's first fragrance, the brand later showed vibrant, mood-boosting shades of red, pink, and yellow – plus, a sprinkling of polka dots.

THE STREET STYLE

Skirts were the trend of choice for the style set this year, with sheer and lace fabric styles seen everywhere. Babba Rivera went monochrome with a boxy black blazer and heels, while others went for an oversized shirt or knit.
