Everything Our Fashion & Creative Director Is Loving Right Now

SL’s fashion and creative director Lu Hough is here to show us her new favourite pieces. From jackets to jeans, this is everything she has her eye on right now…

All products on this page have been selected by our editorial team, however we may make commission on some products.

The Jacket

Suede Nubuck Leather Jacket, £399 | Massimo Dutti

Suede is going nowhere and this season it’s all about funnel shapes rather than bombers. This one from Massimo looks quite lightweight, which is perfect for warmer weather, and I love that you can roll up the sleeves and make it look a little more casual. The colour would also work well with jeans or a cornflower blue shirt – so fresh.

The Bag

Slim Symmetry Pochette, £1,450 | Savette

While most of my wardrobe has a pretty neutral colour palette, accessories are where I like to add colour. This burgundy bag from Savette is so chic. It’s not the most practical, sure, but it will totally make an outfit. There’s nothing else like it – who knew simplicity and good structure could do so much? Wear it with every kind of neutral – navy, camel, grey, you name it.

The Loafers

Leather Loafers, £74.99 | H&M

These look like The Row all over – and far more expensive than their high-street price tag. I'd wear them with a cropped jean and a jazzy sock. They’re great for work but you could also wear them at the weekend – they’ll just work so hard for you.

Available at HM.COM

The Trench Coat

Crisp Summer Trench, £900 | Toteme

I have a weakness for a good trench – when you get the right cut, tone and length, it’s hard to beat. This new TOTEME style is super lightweight and would layer just as well over sharp tailoring as it would over knits to make even the simplest of looks more polished. A failsafe choice for any transitional capsule wardrobe.

Available at TOTEME.COM

The Shirt

Braemar Oversized Plaid Flannel Shirt, £255 | Yaitte

Plaid was all over the SS25 runways, and this is such a good layering piece to add some texture to your look. I’d style this Yaitte shirt with a vest and white wide-leg jeans come summer – or tie it at the waist for added interest.

The Jeans

Blaine High Rise Straight Jeans, £340 | Citizen Of Humanity

Unpopular opinion, but I’m here for the return of slimmer, straight-leg jeans. The Blaine from Citizens of Humanity really speaks to me. The wash is spot on, and they’d look just as good with a sock and a loafer as they would with ankle boots or a sneaker. They feel a little bit more polished than the wide-leg or puddle jeans that we saw a lot of last season.

The Earrings

Orbit Hoops, £325 | By Pariah

These are just really good everyday earrings with a bit of added interest. They remind me of Jessica McCormack but without the high-end price point. The contrast of the black rhodium against the gold hoop is so cool and modern.

The Skirt

Loula Lace Skirt, £165 | Dissh

While I'm an autumn/winter girl at heart, I saw this look from DISSH and immediately felt hopeful that spring was around the corner. Sheer was a standout trend last season and this updated take feels like the perfect, modern evolution – sleek and chic.

Available at DISSH.COM

The Blazer

Geka Blazer, £590 | Grènn

No capsule wardrobe is complete without a navy blazer. This new piece from Grènn Studio is the perfect shape – oversized on the shoulders and slightly more tapered at the bottom, so it feels really polished. It's also a very dark navy, which is so classic and chic, much like Lisa who designed it.

Available at GRENNSTUDIO.COM

The Boots

Nevada Leather Ankle Boots, £1,370 | Khaite

I tried these Khaite boots on last week, and I haven't been able to stop thinking about them. They also come with a slightly smaller heel, but these are a standout. The pointed toe and curved heel are Khaite signatures – I really hope they end up in my wardrobe one day.

Available at NET-A-PORTER.COM

The Coat

Jacket With Corduroy Collar Pockets, £99.99 | Mango

Canvas or barn jackets are still big news this season – they’re the perfect layer going into spring when you want to ditch your long coat but still need to feel warm. It’s just so practical. What I really like about the shape of this one is it feels a bit more fashion forward. The dark denim is cooler – it's got an Isabel Marant vibe to it. A city update to a country classic.
