The New-Season Trends To Know Now

Even though it still feels sub-zero outside, the fashion crowd already have their eyes on the season ahead. We called on SL’s fashion broadcaster and editor, Nana Acheampong, to give us the lowdown on what’s going to be hot – and share the pieces at the top of her SS25 wish list…

Unpopular opinion: I’m a big fan of January, especially when it comes to fashion. The new year means that spring and, more importantly, summer are on their way, so while it’s still bitterly cold outside, I like to cosy up at home and plan my SS25 wardrobe. Like every season, there’s an endless list of trends to choose from, but I have picked four of my current favourites that are shoppable now.

Stella McCartney

Power Dressing

This is one of my favourite trends for SS25. Suits were a key feature in various designers’ collections in September, which means there’s now endless inspiration for workwear and after-work drinks. Taking style notes from Bella Hadid at Saint Laurent, this trend is all about confidence and charisma – it’s also a look you can switch up for the weekend or nights out. For a more casual take, look to Nina Ricci, which sent models down the runway in plunging blazers with subtle camisoles or nothing underneath. Similarly, Victoria Beckham layered sheer bodysuits under tailoring to balance structure with sensuality.

Sports Luxe

Think sport – but make it fashion. A seamless blend of athletic-inspired elements with high-fashion details, it’s all about blending comfort with sophistication – a combination I’m fully on board with. It was seen at various shows – like No.21, Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton – so I’ll be updating my wardrobe with tapered joggers, boxy jackets and oversized hoodies. I’ll also be on the lookout for dresses with sporty details, like racerback cuts or drawstring waists, crafted in luxe fabrics like silk or satin, and teaming them with a great pair of heels.

Prada

Michael Kors

Lady Like

The ladylike trend is all about embracing femininity without sacrificing that contemporary feel.  Designer inspiration comes from Chanel, Tory Burch and Michael Kors, while fabrics like silk, satin, chiffon, lace and crepe add a luxurious touch to the aesthetic. This trend thrives on flattering, structured shapes that highlight the waist and enhances proportions, so whether it’s an A-line skirt, a pencil dress, or a tailored blazer, look for pieces with a precise cut or shape to show off what you have.

Mocha Mousse

Pantone’s colour of 2025 is Mocha Mousse – a velvety mix of chocolate and coffee that feels effortlessly luxurious. It was all over SS25 runways – see Max Mara and Isabel Marant for proof – demonstrating that brown has evolved from a functional staple into a fashion-forward statement. Whether through leather outerwear, structured accessories or tailored silhouettes, this earthy palette is proving to be the ultimate canvas for creativity and style this season.
