Shoulder Pads

One of my go-to styling tricks is to add a pair of shoulder pads under everything – from t-shirts to cardigans and knits. You can get them from basically any fabric store. They can make a simple denim and knit combo that little bit more refined – just stay away from anything too over-the-top. I really like to add shoulder pads to a masculine, oversized coat to give it that Frankie Shop vibe.

Red

I wouldn’t say I’m a colourful dresser – actually, far from it – but I do like to incorporate a pop of colour here and there. At this time of the year, I gravitate towards anything red. But here’s the catch: I don’t wear it with black. I find the contrast too harsh. Something softer, like brown, beige, grey, or even dark blue, feels more current. Another tip is to use a colourful knit like a scarf around your shoulders to add colour to more minimal looks.

Victoria Beckham-Inspired Denim

By now, you’ve probably watched the Beckham documentary and know about that dance scene. I – like everyone else – was obsessed with Victoria’s high-waisted, flared blue jeans. They look so fresh and elegant, especially amid a sea of low-waisted and loose-fitting denim. The best part of this full-length style? They work well with almost any type of shoe, from sneakers to ankle boots.

Winter Whites

As a mother living in Helsinki, I am trying hard to resist the urge to spend the next four months in a black, sleeping bag-like puffer coat. So instead, I’m opting for a beautiful white coat – made by my friends at Almada Label. White is such a statement during the darker months, and whenever I feel a bit ‘blah’, I like to add it to an outfit to instantly feel more put together.

Skirts

Skirts are often neglected during the winter, so I’m challenging myself to wear them more. Long denim skirts have been trending for a while now, especially with bomber jackets or Hailey Bieber-like boxy leather coats. However, I prefer to wear mine with something a bit more timeless. Pairing a long pencil skirt with a loose cashmere knit strikes the right balance between contemporary and classic.

Dad Caps

I’m all about functionality, and a dad cap is the perfect example of that. It makes going out a lot faster since you don’t have to worry about styling your hair. It’s also super convenient on rainy, windy days when umbrellas tend to turn inside out. I like to wear mine with a sharp coat so it doesn't look too sporty. Side note, another micro-trend I’m loving at the moment is the Khaite-like cowgirl belts. I got mine from a second-hand store many years ago and luckily never got rid of it.

Disco Pants

I’m solving my party season outfit dilemmas with a pair of statement trousers this year. They are surprisingly versatile and the perfect solution when jeans are too casual, but an LBD feels too much. My trousers are a pair of loose-fitting jeans with rhinestones all over. For pre-Christmas parties, I’m planning to wear them with pointy boots from Aeyde and a top from Almada Label. For a more casual daytime look, I have been wearing them with a grey hoodie, chunky knit, or even just a plain white t-shirt.
