Luxe List: December
Influencers: The Triplets
The only thing better than one influencer? Three identical triplets – Elnaz, Tanaz and Golnaz, all with impeccable style, enviable skin and hair and one of the slickest Instagram grids out there. Follow for cool, contemporary looks, three times over.
FRAGRANCE: Jo Malone x Zara
One of SL’s favourite perfumers, Jo Malone, has teamed up with Zara to create eight unisex fragrances. Inspired by Zara’s fashion archives, each of the scents has its own personality, and can be mixed and matched – much like Malone’s own Jo Loves collection. We love the sound of Vetiver Pamplemousse, which has notes of grapefruit, mandarin and vetiver. Best of all, a bottle costs just £25.95 – perfect for Christmas presents.
RESTAURANT: Café Murano Bermondsey
Angela Hartnett’s new Café Murano has opened on Bermondsey Street. The restaurant features an open kitchen, counter seating and a lovely private dining space. The menu is largely inspired by the diverse regions of Italy, including the truffle-rich hillsides of Piedmont and seafood inspired by the country’s coastal regions. Look out for signature dishes such as mushroom arancini, chicken milanese and tortelli.
INTERIORS: Alice Naylor-Leyland
Fashion muse, brand collaborator and Vogue contributor Alice Naylor-Leyland has launched her eponymous homewares brand. With an emphasis on whimsical and elegant design, her signature products are her ‘festive tablescapes’, which take the hassle out of hosting and bring the fun back into dining. We love her ‘Winter Woodland’ tablescape for four guests. With green and silver tones, this set – which includes crackers, nutcrackers and candleholders – will look amazing paired with a simple plain-coloured set of your own cutlery and crockery.
The brainchild of industry pioneers – celebrity make-up artist Nikki DeRoest and renowned photographer David Roemer – Roen has just hit the UK market. Using expertise gained through working with some of the biggest brands and on some of the most iconic campaigns, vegan and cruelty-free Roen promises a luxe experience with a conscience. Look out for its opulent, pigment-packed shadows. Dubbed ‘glitter for grown-ups’, crushed bronze Disco Eye looks gorgeous alone or on top of your favourite eyeshadow.
THE RING: Carolina Bucci
Carolina Bucci's heart-shaped Cuore ring has long been a team SL favourite, but her new bow-shaped style may be about to trump it. Cool, glamorous and our kind of festive, the design adds serious impact to even the simplest of outfits - we'll be asking Santa for the yellow gold version.
THEATRE: 4,000 Miles
In spring, The Old Vic will present Amy Herzog’s Pulitzer Prize for Drama nominated 4,000 Miles. Directed by Matthew Warchus, the much-anticipated play will star Eileen Atkins and Timothée Chalamet in the lead roles and will open on 16th April. The tale focuses on 21-year-old Leo, who sets out from the West Coast to cycle across America with his best friend. After weeks of radio silence, no one is more surprised than his 91-year-old grandmother Vera when Leo turns up on her Manhattan doorstep in the middle of the night. His life just starting, hers nearly ending, and in a faded Greenwich Village apartment their griefs collide. Tickets go on sale on 3rd December.
BEAUTY DESTINATION: AfterBeauty
AfterBeauty is a new three-floor store dedicated to beauty. Located on Piccadilly, the well-stocked shop sells over 4,000 products from 140 global brands (such as Paul & Joe, Stila and Patchology) and offers an impressive range of treatments. On floor ‘Aura’ you’ll find face creams aplenty, facials and body wraps. On ‘Heaven’ is a nail bar, plus everything dedicated to haircare, hair tools, bath and body. Finally, ground-floor ‘Earth’ is the place to explore for all things make-up.
Any brand that combines Italian craftmanship, Scandi style and sustainable fabrics is a winner in our books. Avavav is the new name using upcycled materials to produce small batches of each design, meaning you better act fast to get your hands on their puff-sleeve, Victoriana-neckline hero pieces.
BOOK: Lunch With The FT: A Second Helping
‘Lunch with the Financial Times’ has been a permanent fixture in the FT for decades and focuses on the art of conversation in the intimate environment of a long boozy lunch. On its 25th anniversary, Lunch with the Financial Times: A Second Helping showcases the most entertaining, incisive and fascinating interviews from the past five years, including those with Edward Snowden, Bernie Ecclestone, Hilary Mantel, Sheryl Sandberg, Richard Branson, Jordan Peterson, Woody Harrelson, pre-election Donald Trump and Zoella, illustrated in full colour with James Ferguson's famous portraits.
ROOFTOP: Orrery x The White Company
Marylebone’s Orrery has teamed up with The White Company and Moët & Chandon to transform its terrace for winter. On the French restaurant’s roof, the space has been dressed with The White Company’s luxury cashmere throws, hanging outdoor lanterns and white sheepskin rugs, while candles around the terrace fill the air with notes of chestnuts and pine. Head chef Igor Tymchyshyn has created a special winter terrace menu to accompany a cocktail list that matches each of The White Company’s winter fragrances.
