Top Fashion Month Moments

February means one thing when you work in this industry – it’s fashion month. From New York to London, Milan to Paris, it’s the time to look ahead to AW24 and see what we can all expect. While spring/summer is my favourite season, it’s always so exciting to see the creativity that has gone into shows, the location, the soundtrack, the beauty and of course, the clothes. I also love seeing the street style – it’s usually enough to fill my Pinterest board for a solid six months.

One of my favourite looks I’ve worn this month was on the first day of London Fashion Week. Shorts are going to be massive this spring/summer and with the sun shining, I thought this was the perfect time to bare my legs. The lilac co-ord from Sandro is the newest colourway in this set; I actually own the exact same style in dark purple and yellow but if I love something, I will happily buy it again in multiple colours. The cut of the shorts is very flattering, and the oversized shirt has a boxy fit that looks great done up or open with a vest underneath. I teamed it with my favourite pink leather jacket from The Frankie Shop for a sorbet colour block moment.

Some of my favourite shows from fashion month as a whole were David Koma, 16Arlington, Gucci and Bottega Veneta. Any collection that features party style dresses, textured pieces, exaggerated silhouettes and tailoring has my attention. David Koma had the perfect LBD; 16Arlington had the silver textured skirt of dreams; Gucci’s orange playsuit is living rent-free in my head; and Bottega Veneta nailed it with this red fringe and tassel dress.

Off the runway, I loved checking out the street style. My star of the season was Emili Sindlev. In my opinion, she never misses the mark and this season she did New York and Milan. She’s so good at relaxed glamour. One of my favourite street style photographers is London-based David Nyanzi. He’s brilliant at capturing expectational images, as well as filming and editing great videos. I was lucky enough to be snapped by him at London Fashion week at the Bora Aksu show.

A Very Special Night Out

The weekend after London Fashion Week, I was lucky enough to be invited to the BAFTAs for the first time. The dress code said black tie and I found the perfect red carpet dress from Solace London via NET-A-PORTER. I think they do occasion wear so well. I justified the last-minute purchase by promising myself I would rent it out in the future on a platform like By Rotation or Hurr. I really want to rent out my wardrobe this year – there are plenty of pieces in there that could be working harder.

Red Carpet Favourites

With the exception of the Met Gala, January to March are some of the busiest months on the red carpet. Awards season is such a joy for me to watch – especially because I know first-hand from my styling days all the hard work that goes into pulling a look together. I have loved watching Ayo Edebiri this season. She’s won pretty much every award she’s been nominated for and has looked phenomenal collecting her gongs. From the 3D, moulded Louis Vuitton dress at the Emmy’s to the stunning red column Prada dress at the Golden Globes, The Row all-white power suit at the Critics’ Choice Awards – and my personal favourite, the custom Bottega Veneta dress at the BAFTAs – she and her stylist, Danielle Goldberg, have absolutely smashed it.

Latest Brand Discoveries

Finally, a brand I discovered this month was Ducie. Their shearling coats first caught my eye but as we move into spring I’m now looking at the great oversized leather jackets they have on offer. Leather jackets are going to be such a big trend for SS24 – it’s a great time to invest in such a timeless classic. I love how they can be styled up with pretty much everything I already have in my wardrobe. Even though I am very much a spring/summer girly, I could probably keep buying coats and jackets until the end of time.
