Everything Polly Is Loving Right Now

The Brand
Spanish knitwear brand Babaà has been on my radar for a few years and the winter sale was the perfect time to invest in one of its knits. Disclaimer: they’re not cheap but as soon as it arrived it was love at first wear. Plus, everything is made in a family-run factory in Barcelona using local, sustainable materials.
The Silhouette
Wide-leg denim lovers, gird your loins because straight leg, slightly cropped jeans are coming back. I personally find these much easier to style with boots and loafers than the longer, baggier shapes that have dominated the past couple of years, so I’ll be hunting for some vintage Levi’s 501s to fill the gap in my wardrobe.
The Accessory
It’s rare for a trend to appear that you haven’t already seen in the last five or so years, so I’m excited that fashion girls are loving brooches again. Vintage lover Jen Wonders has been championing them, wearing several in a cluster on a blazer lapel, but a solo brooch also looks chic on a scarf or a button-down shirt. Naturally, the best ones are the originals from 80s and 90s, so check out eBay and Etsy.
The Vintage Purchase
I really believe the designer bags to buy now aren’t pristine – they should look like they’ve had a life before they’ve reached you. There’s something so cool about a battered old Louis Vuitton Speedy and if it’s good enough for Alexa Chung, it’s good enough for me. I’m also loving the idea of a Chloé Paddington, Celine Phantom and Balenciaga City – the bags we all loved in the early noughties. If you didn’t hold onto yours, there are plenty to be found on the pre-loved sites.
The Trend
You’d be forgiven for thinking they were the reserve of finance bros but thanks to the Chanel Métiers d'art show, half-zip jumpers are back on the fashion agenda. The show’s opening look is definitely on my Pinterest board.
The Detail
I’m particularly drawn to jeans and loafers at the moment, especially when there’s a luxe sock involved. I asked for some red Pairs socks for Christmas but I also think burgundy, forest green, grey and beige are worth having in your rotation. Don’t underestimate the power of a good sock – the devil is often in the details.
The Collab
I love pretty much everything J.Crew, and its creative director Olympia Gayot, produce, so the brand’s collection with the US ski team has caught my eye. The collab includes a standout Fair Isle knit and printed sweats inspired by decades past. Time to book a ski trip so I have an excuse to buy something…

The Designer Buy
Saint Laurent’s ‘Le Loafer’ is the designer piece on my wish list right now. The soft structure is just perfect – I can’t decide between the black or burnt brown colour. If you can’t justify the price tag, there are a few convincing alternatives on the high street.

The Texture
I’m happy to see corduroy is back again this season as I love the texture it adds to a look. It also feels like a nice alternative to denim, which can start to feel repetitive about now. I recently invested in some low-rise, loose-fit trousers from Agolde which look chic with a belt, chunky knit and kitten heel boots.
