The Trend Defining AW26 & Where To Shop It Now

From full, sweeping silhouettes to sharp pencils and statement minis, this season’s skirts are making us rethink this wardrobe staple. For AW26, the focus is on considered proportions, interesting texture and pieces that can bring a look together. Here we round up the key shapes to know, as well as some of our favourites to help you get the look…

The Full Skirt

This season, full skirts come in a range of options. Carven’s long grey pleated style feels quietly polished; Alberta Ferretti takes a richer approach with brown leather, while Mugler’s nipped-in waists and fine pleats give volume a sharper edge. Róhe, Sézane and Zara all have strong offerings. For an elevated take on workwear, pair yours with a crisp shirt and a slim merino knit.

The Pencil Skirt

Coloured leather, patent and mock croc have put pencil skirts firmly back on the AW26 agenda. Givenchy, Balenciaga and Rowan Rose all made a case for this feminine hero – especially in leather. For extra impact, go high-shine. Whether you opt for one of Self-Portrait’s glossy styles or a buttery-soft piece from Massimo Dutti or Reiss, all you need is a sheer blouse and you’re halfway to channelling Maggie Gyllenhaal in Secretary.

AKNVAS; Blumarine; Ulla Johnson

The Mini-Skirt

Making a confident comeback for AW26, the mini comes in several guises: dramatic volume at Blumarine, skater silhouettes at Ulla Johnson and a more refined, feminine take at Dior, where white chiffon cascaded down the runway. It’s a party-season hero – look to Prada for volume, Rotate for rosette details and Sportmax for coated leather. At night, team it with sheer tights and heels or by day, take the preppier route with socks and loafers.

Carven; Bottega Veneta; Victoria Beckham; Jacquemus

The Trophy Skirt

When it comes to trophy skirts, anything goes: think bigger proportions, bolder textures and plenty of embellishment. Balenciaga went for faux fur, Carven exaggerated the pleats, Jacquemus added ruffles and Rabanne turned up the sequins. Staud’s are guaranteed to make a statement, while Tove’s tangerine fil-coupé skirt adds a hit of colour. Finally, on the high street, Zara Edition has designer-looking sequins and ruffles for less.
