“The aim was to create a classic and elegant bathroom with a modern twist by mixing materials and finishes. Porter Bathrooms is a great one-stop shop for beautiful bathroom furniture and brassware. The tall cabinets provide a great space for displaying ceramics and linens. I’ve introduced some feminine wall tiles to the shower area, as well as fabrics to achieve a softer look without it being too saccharine. Soft furnishings help to soften a bathroom, both acoustically and visually against the harder finishes, so I've chosen a pretty fabric for a soft roman blind and trimmed it with a contrast bobble fringe on the bottom edge. If space allows, it’s nice to include either a comfortable armchair or an upholstered stool. The freestanding bath is one of my favourite pieces; it’s so comfortable and can be painted to suit the scheme. Always make sure you try out the bath first – one size does not fit all.”

“The starting point for this scheme was the wallpaper – I love the pattern and the colours in this playful design. I added the timeless walnut vanity unit to give the bathroom depth and make it feel more grown up. I also wanted to bring out the different colours of the wallpaper, so I decided to use a bright red bath and green striped floor tiles. I like to mix different patterns, colours and textures in bathrooms to create something fun but also timeless and chic. There’s always a certain level softness to any room I design – for example, the pendant and the café curtain I have used here. Lastly, one of my favourite things to do is to add accessories – not only to make spaces look nice, but because they can also add functionality.”

“I wanted to create a pared-back, timeless and luxurious bathroom – a serene space where you could relax and retreat. I love the calm, simple colour palette and how that plays with the antique elements and newer pieces. Bringing warmth to each space is always at the centre of what we do. For this bathroom, I have installed a fireplace as the focal point, with a stunning bath next to it. An antique 18th-century French carved mirror brings elegance and sophistication, while full-length sheer curtains add softness and privacy without blocking out the daylight. Alabaster lights provide a warm glow, while the candles and scents complement the space.”

Scarlett Supple

Aldridge & Supple

“This bathroom scheme was designed with a London townhouse in mind. The goal was to create a calm and cosy space that worked with traditional materials. The walls are painted in a rich blue-green lime paint, complemented by dark green zellige shower tiles that provide a lovely backdrop to the antique brass fixtures. We incorporate reclaimed materials wherever possible in our designs; here, the vanity unit is a repurposed table with added marble, and we sourced a reclaimed restored bathtub. Antiques are another staple in our designs, adding unique character and individuality to each space. The brass antique mirror, along with the delicate armchair and stool, introduce layers of materials that harmonise with the more traditionally styled sink unit. Sourcing distinctive artwork brings a personal touch, and it’s nice to incorporate candlelight where you can.”

“I have designed a beautiful bathroom for a large room in a country house, with a freestanding shower and bath, alongside traditional taps and accessories like a ball-jointed towel horse, chiselled scroll wall lights, a bronze and opaline dish light, red and white marble, hand-painted delft tiles and an engineered medium oak floor. A bathroom should be a place of relaxation but also a space where you can feel energised by your surroundings.”

“This feminine and classic bathroom combines beautiful pattern with interesting textures. The green coral wallpaper forms the basis of the scheme. We would combine this with a painted plaster pink ceiling to keep things feminine and warm. Sheer curtains complement the scheme and provide some privacy. The classic fixtures are timeless in style and will last a lifetime. Juxtaposing the heavier-looking vanity are these super-pretty wall lights and shades, and mirrors. The scalloped marble tiles keep things interesting on the floor and tie in with the vanity stone. This bath, with its raised feet, is so elegant and pretty. We’ve also included accessories to bring the whole room to life.”

“Our home designs often tell a story and we wanted this bathroom scheme to celebrate artisanal craftsmanship and global inspiration. Our preference for handcrafted forms and materials often leads us to collaborate with smaller producers, ensuring each element has its own charm. These orange hand-painted tiles from Sicily, for instance, infuse the bathroom with the warmth of the Mediterranean sun, creating a vibrant and inviting atmosphere that complements the earthy tones of the walls. The concrete freestanding bathtub and basin bring the raw beauty of natural materials into the space, exuding both warmth and timeless appeal. An intricate chandelier adds a touch of modern elegance, while a whimsical mirror design injects a playful element. The overall ambience is one of comfort and sophistication, seamlessly blending modern luxury with artisanal heritage.”

“We love the effect that comes from blending light marble and antique brass fixtures and fittings. We also enjoy bringing in soft curves to a space – here through the Portman bath and the arched mirror from Fiona McDonald. The chandelier is a standout piece but also has a beautiful, organic, flowing form that enhances the room’s calm energy. We chose a Tadelakt wall finish, which has natural waterproof properties and has been used in Moroccan homes for centuries. To accessorise our dream bathroom, we chose this ceramic Gianna vase for its artisanal finish. Because being in nature is so closely linked to relaxation and wellbeing, we thought it worth adding hyper-real – and low maintenance – faux plants like this olive tree.”
