It’s all about creating a space where you can truly hunker down s. Wrap your walls and even the ceiling in a sisal or grasscloth wallpaper to add warmth and texture for a cocooning snug that feels extra cosy. My scheme features brown walls, a blue sofa and a splash of red. Lighting is everything. I love to add layers from flush pendants and wall lights to candle scones – just add a vintage piece to make the space your own. It’s all about creating the mood, feeling comfortable and making a space you actually want to spend time in. Put your feet up, grab a glass of wine, a soft blanket and turn on Celebrity Traitors for the perfect night in.

This snug edit is all about laidback luxury. A deep, chocolate-toned sofa anchors the room, setting a grounding tone against a textured grasscloth backdrop. Layered textures and earthy tones create a sense of calm, while the scheme as a whole embraces an understated richness, favouring soft curves, handcrafted details and a palette that feels warm, not overpowering.

We believe a snug should feel like a sanctuary, – designed for slow evenings, candlelight and conversation, this space is all about texture, tone and tactility. Deep, sink-into seating sets the tone, layered with patterned cushions and throws for extra comfort. We’ve chosen rich, earthy hues in olive, burgundy, honey and tobacco to create depth and warmth, while brass and burr timber accents reflect the low lighting. Upholstered ottomans make perfect footrests or tray tables, adding softness and practicality in equal measure.
Lighting is key in a room like this: linen-shaded floor lamps and sculptural wall lights cast a flattering glow, creating a cocooning atmosphere without any glare. For those who like their rooms to work hard, a bespoke TV unit allows the screen to disappear behind framed artwork – transforming a daytime media space into a peaceful retreat by night.

We love creating spaces that invite you to slow down and reconnect, and this snug area was designed as a sanctuary of quiet and warmth with understated sophistication. The palette of soft neutrals and rich, earthy tones creates a cocooning atmosphere, while tactile materials such as linen, wool and natural wood add depth and comfort. The curved armchair to the smooth travertine side table, strikes the right balance between refinement and ease. Layered lighting, including the softly diffused glow of the paper lamp, enhances the sense of intimacy, while curated artwork and textured accessories introduce additional texture.

A snug is a warm, multifunctional space – whether you use it for reading, watching films with friends or family or as a place for children to play, the word itself indicates cosy intimacy. Therefore, we can do away with any overhead lighting in favour of wall lights, candles and a fire. Layering comfortable and versatile furniture (which can also serve as storage) with soft cushions and blankets is key, while the space is personalised by art and accessories.

The aim was to create a calm and serene environment – a space that invites quiet reflection and comfort. The design centres on layering a variety of textures and materials to add warmth, depth and subtle richness to the room. A neutral palette of warm beiges and soft browns creates a harmonious and cohesive scheme, while the emphasis remains on comfort wrapped in understated luxury.
A thoughtful contrast between soft and hard materials – from the plush armchairs to the marble coffee table – lends both visual balance and functionality. Layered lighting enhances the atmosphere; ceiling lights are complemented by portable table lamps and the gentle glow of candlelight, allowing the mood to shift effortlessly from day to evening. Every element has been curated to create a space that feels inviting, cocooning and beautifully composed.

When I think of a snug, it’s really about upping the cosy factor. It’s a space that invites more mood and layering, somewhere you can lean into deep colours and texture. A room that’s less about formality, more about comfort. This scheme is all about that feeling – raffia-lined walls, deep green velvet and ochre, with touches of russet and indigo. Layers of pattern and texture stop it feeling heavy – woven sisal, a patterned printed velvet, antique fabric cushions and a bold geometric woven rug, along with a flash of lacquered green and the red base of the ottoman, add playfulness and personality.

Don't you just want to jump on that huge velvet sofa? I wanted my snug to feel warm, cosy, chic and considered, not overly stiff and formal. A snug is a retreat that should feel both intimate and elevated, a space that invites you to linger. My chosen colour palette is grounded in soft neutrals and rich, chocolate undertones, while the Prussian blue accents and the wallpaper pattern add a bit of interest. The different textures layered on top of each other become the key to comfort – specifically velvets, linens and wool.
