Söderhamn 3-Seat Section Sofa, £510
Söderhamn 3-Seat Section Sofa Cover, £729 | Bemz

“My favourite Ikea product for years was the Farlov sofa – curved arms, single seat base cushion and a loose cover. It was such a classic but it has now been discontinued. So, my second choice is the Söderhamn three-seater sectional (no arms) with a Bemz Maximalist sofa cover – I especially love this navy striped fabric. The floor-length ruffled skirt makes it interesting – I love a juxtaposition. The end result looks like a bespoke piece of furniture at a fraction of the cost, and the cover is machine washable, so it’s great for pets and families.”

Skriftspråk Low Pile Rug, £129

“While I don't typically use Ikea pieces professionally, this rug caught my attention recently. I believe its contemporary style and tonality would complement a modern, city-based interior beautifully.”

Tolkning Rattan Handmade Room Divider, £99
Virklund Flatwoven Rug, £49

“The Tolkning rattan room divider is a brilliant Ikea buy. It feels and looks far more expensive than it is – I would use it as a room divider or as a headboard for a king size bed. This Virklund design is a brilliant and affordable outdoor rug – great for under dining tables, it’s wonderfully low maintenance too.”

Gail Taylor

Lack Wall Shelf Unit, £55

“The Lack shelf is a piece I’ve used in lots of projects in different sizes and colours. It works brilliantly in a home office space, of course, but I have installed them in kitchens, dining rooms, bathrooms, kids’ rooms – the list goes on. We used several Lack shelves in our design studio in Richmond when we designed the space there; they’ve worked brilliantly in the kitchen and coffee bar where they have been set slightly off the wall so they could be back lit too. The beauty of the Lack shelf is that is has a hidden bracket fixing, so it appears to float without any ugly fittings on show.”

Snidad Rattan Basket, £35

“I love this basket for carrying washing up and down the stairs to our small utility room – it holds a lot, is such a pretty shape and has lasted us years, which is saying something considering the amount of washing we get through.”

Pax / Forsand Wardrobe Combination, £252

“I love the versatility of the Pax wardrobes. They're so easy to customise and make your own. Not only can you arrange your perfect combination of shelves, drawers or hanging space to keep your clothes organised and tidy, you can also make them look like higher-end bespoke wardrobes at a fraction of the cost by adding custom doors from companies like Superfront and Fronteriors. Splurge on beautiful handles and make the wardrobe look fitted by adding coving or a trim to any gaps around the wardrobe.”

Lohals Flatwoven Rug, £149
Fryksås Storage Unit, £80

“This Lohals rug provides a clean, neutral base and it has a lovely warmth to it, which adds cosiness to any space. Rugs can often be quite costly, so this is a great alternative for those on a tighter budget. I also love the new rattan Fryksås storage unit, which would make a great bar cart.”

Dytåg Curtains, £70
Bekväm Stool, £19

“This stool is great as you can paint it to suit a room colour and it can be used as a side table or a kids’ stool and steps to reach higher things. At home I’ve used the Dytåg curtains, which can be unpicked and lined, and look great with a bit of professional magic.”
