Big Mamma – the group behind Gloria and Circolo Popolare – has an at-home delivery service. Look out for antipasti such as prosciutto, burrata and mortadella, plus crispy pizzas loaded high with fresh produce, as well as tiramisu and gelato. When it comes to pasta, its generous lasagne and conchiglie gratin with parmigiano, fresh truffle, black truffle cream, mascarpone and mushrooms are the things to order. All the packaging is 100% recyclable and delivery is available via UberEats.
Lina Stores has been providing groceries and Italian products to its local communities since 1944. Now – with four London restaurants under its belt – the team also delivers a selection of some of its most popular deli products, including olive oil, dry pasta and tinned tomatoes. Delivery is also available when it comes to fresh pasta and accompanying sauces, via recipe kits that help Lina Stores fans recreate their favourite recipes at home. Of the current selection, we love the fresh artichoke and truffle ravioli, served with butter and parmigiano reggiano.
One of the first to create pasta kits in the UK, Pasta Evangelists releases a weekly menu of 15 dishes, each designed to bring a taste of Italy into British kitchens. Arriving straight to customers' homes, each box includes fresh handmade pasta, an authentic Italian sauce, garnishes and instructions on how to prepare the dish. Choose from popular dishes such as wild boar and red wine ragu; wild mushroom ravioli; and cacio e pepe. You can also order the kits through Ocado.
The River Café
As one of London’s greatest places for Italian food, The River Café needs little introduction. Current mix-and-match pastas and sauces on offer include cavolo nero and pine nut sauce, cime de rapa and black olive sauce, and authentic bags of orecchiette, plus charcuterie and extra such as Devon crab and bottles of Italian wine.
In 2017, James and Rebecca packed up their possessions and six-month-old son to tour Italy and learn the authentic way to make fresh pasta. Now the pair deliver fresh pasta and homemade sauces across the UK. Made each morning, the pasta is as fresh as possible. Each kit includes pasta, homemade sauce and fresh parmesan, and can be prepared and ready to eat in under five minutes. Sign up, and each week you’ll receive a pasta dish for two, four or six people. If you’re not home, it can be dropped through the letterbox. We like the sound of reginette with san marzano tomato, fire roasted peppers and basil.
Fresh from the States, Ekook allows customers to choose from classic Roman dishes such as tonnarello cacio e pepe with black truffle; and rigatone alla gricia with artichokes and pecorino; or family favourites like tagliatelle bolognese with parmesan. Prices start at £5.90 for one portion and ordering is flexible with no minimum or maximum order. Inside your Ekook box you will find two QR codes: one will open into a video tutorial guiding you on how to best prepare and serve your pasta; the second links to a playlist designed to enhance your dining experience.
Angela Hartnett’s Café Murano Bermondsey team launched its pasta delivery set-up, complete with online Italian grocery, in 2019. Customers can order ready-made meals such as family-sized lasagne, risotto kits, spinach and ricotta tortelli, and tagliatelle with sausage ragu, plus mix-and-match fresh pastas and sauces. Meanwhile, the small grocery section sells fresh vegetables, deli items, dried pastas and flours, wines and cheeses to cook with at home – all of which are available within a 12-mile radius of its Covent Garden shop.
La Tua Pasta
La Tua Pasta has spent years supplying world-renowned restaurants including Claridge’s and The Dorchester. Now the luxe supplier sells directly to customers and has a wide selection of fresh and filled pasta in the UK, all made in house at its pastificio using the finest ingredients – think tortelloni with fresh asparagus and ricotta. The family business can send out supper boxes for two, family boxes and one-offs from its à la carte menu.
London restaurant group Scarpetta’s at-home kits are a recent addition. Each dish is handmade the morning of delivery to make sure it’s full of flavour. For authenticity, the flour used in making the pasta comes from southern Italy and is freshly milled to order, to keep hold of the nutrients and flavour; parmesan and burrata is locally sourced; and its ’nduja sausage comes from Calabria. As the seasons change, so do the brand’s pasta sauces – right now, you’ll find bucatini amatriciana and mushroom and truffle pappardelle on the menu.
