What’s New At The Supermarket This Month
Duck Hoisin, £3 | Planted
Finally, a plant-based product that tastes like meat and doesn’t contain a long list of additives and preservatives. Vegan brand Planted creates ‘meat’ using only a few ingredients and has now launched a plant-based alternative to duck, made from peas, oats and sunflower – and fortified with vitamins. Fry the pieces in a little oil or cook in an air fryer for five or six minutes on a medium heat until caramelised and warmed through. Perfect for Asian-inspired dishes, try it with a dash of hoisin sauce in Chinese pancakes or a wrap.

King of butter Thomas Straker has amassed over 2m followers on TikTok, partly thanks to his viral ‘All Things Butter series’, in which he creates decadent dishes using lots of – you guessed it – butter. Now, Straker and his best friend Toby Hopkinson have launched an organic butter brand. Available at Ocado, current flavours include Salted, Unsalted, Garlic & Herb, and Chilli. We recommend drizzling the latter over everything from noodles and pasta to grilled veg and seafood.

We rate the pulled chicken taco spice mix, which includes dried chipotle chili, smoked paprika, cumin, coriander and ancho chilli for a quick midweek meal.
