ON MANIFESTATION…
How do you identify your goals for a new season?
I think now is a perfect time to make a three-month vision board. Think about what goals you want to have reached, and how you want to feel, by Christmas. I personally like to categorise my vision boards into ‘Career/Personal Development/Relationships/Other’ to make sure I’m painting a full picture of my life and not just focusing on one part.
What are some visualisation techniques you can use to connect with the life you want to create?
Guided visualisation meditations are incredibly powerful, I have some manifesting meditations available on my website or you can find lots of free ones on YouTube. I recommend finding a voice you can connect with, then saving the ones you like and repeating them, because I find that when you listen to the same one over and over again, your mind quietens much quicker because it knows what is coming.
How can you cultivate the right emotional state to support the manifestation of your goals?
If you want to manifest, the best thing you can do is practise gratitude. Gratitude is a feeling of appreciation, and it puts us in an abundant mindset. I have lots of gratitude practices in Step 5 of my Manifest books that you can try – my favourite is the Positivity Journal in the orange book. It takes just five minutes a night, but it will change your life.
What strategies can you use to overcome limiting beliefs that might be blocking your ability to manifest?
This is an on-going process and is what my Step 2 (Remove Fear and Doubt) is all about. It is so important because we manifest what we subconsciously believe we are worthy of receiving. I think there are two parts to this, one is about committing to processing and healing from your past in any way available to you, whether it’s via therapy, counselling, inner child work, hypnotherapy or RTT (rapid transformational therapy). The other part of it is about daily tools you can use to rewire your beliefs, such as using positive affirmations or being extremely strict with your self-talk.
How can you align your daily actions with the energy of what you want to manifest?
Think about your future self: how would they show up? What decisions would they make? This applies to your habits, routines, who you spend time with, and what you spend your time doing. This is what Step 3: Align Your Behaviour is all about; it’s about showing up as your future self in everything that you do.
How important is it to design an ‘ideal day’ in the manifestation process, and how should you go about it?
I don’t really buy into this. Life doesn’t need to be perfect to manifest, and you don’t need to be feeling good all the time. I think that feeds into toxic positivity and is something I talk about in my second book Manifest: Dive Deeper. Manifesting is a way of living and a mindset. It isn’t just about having lots of rituals.
Can you recommend effective affirmation practices that can help reinforce your manifestation efforts?
I love using my affirmations from The Mantras. Every night I pull one out and face it down. In the morning, I turn it over the second I wake up, when my subconscious is most susceptible to positive messaging, and repeat it to myself five times. It’s such an amazing way to start the day. You can also do this by just writing a mantra on a piece of paper or having it as your phone screen saver.
ON SETTING NEW HABITS…
What are the most effective ways to establish new habits at the start of a new season?
Get clear on why you are starting these new habits; visualise how you think they will make you feel and what positive impact they will have; and then set manageable ones. I like to choose two or three to commit to before I start my day, and another few to commit to at the end of the day.
How can these new habits help in aligning with larger life goals and manifestations?
I think that habits help us to build confidence, stay committed, cultivate self-discipline and practise self-love, all of which are important ingredients for reaching goals.
What practical steps can we take to ensure these new habits become a consistent part of our routine?
I think reward systems are really good for this. Make a little reward for yourself if you keep it up for a week; it could be buying yourself a little treat, a solo date night or just a candlelit bath. I also think having a check list is a great idea. The satisfaction of ticking it off as complete each day is often enough to drive you to do it.
What common challenges might you face when setting new habits and how can you address them?
We often choose too many new habits at once, we don’t establish our intention, and we don’t recognise when our subconscious is trying to sabotage us. So, choose your new habits wisely and build up slowly, be clear on your why, and become acutely aware of when your subconscious simply wants to drag you down.
ON RESETTING FOR THE NEW SEASON…
How can you assess which areas of your lives need a reset?
First, think about how you are feeling physically, emotionally and energetically. If you’re rating low on any of these areas, think about which areas of your life might be causing that. Is your social life draining your energy? Or is a toxic friendship hurting you emotionally? Are your bad diet choices harming you physically? Then figure out what you can do to change those things.
What are some effective ways to release old patterns or habits that no longer serve you?
It all starts with self-awareness and understanding what patterns exist and why they exist. To me this is what inner work is all about. Awareness is half the battle. Then it’s about going further with healing, and changing our behaviour to create new patterns.
How can you refresh your physical environment to support a mental and emotional reset?
I love a good declutter. I just cleared out my entire apartment last weekend and, 12 bin bags later, I can’t tell you how good it felt. When you are doing your wardrobe clear out, be ruthless. Ask yourself: would future me wear this? Or, would my highest self go out in this?
What self-care practices do you recommend for grounding and renewal?
Meditation and breathwork are so powerful. Start small – a few minutes a day really is good enough. It is a practice which means it takes practice, so don’t worry if you find it difficult to begin with. It does get easier. I got some ‘grounding shoes’ recently by Bahé and they look like cool trainers but they help ground you.
How can we prioritise our time and energy in a way that aligns with our true values and goals as we move into September?
Learn to say no. People really don’t care if you don’t go to the party.
