The SL Directory: One-To-One Yoga Instructors
Cat Meffan
The founder of Soul Sanctuary, Cat is proof yoga can heal both body and mind. A former dancer and gymnast, Cat snapped her ACL when she was 17, leading to a knee reconstruction and then a diagnosis of a rare syndrome that could see her wheelchair-bound by the age of 30. When she was 21, she booked into her first yoga class, and she hasn’t looked back. Today, Cat focuses on the mental as much as the physical. Her classes are challenging and designed to cultivate awareness, alignment and mobility in the body, all from a place of balance and non-judgement. And if you’re feeling the need to slow down, Cat will recognise that too – her yin sessions are some of the best out there.

Charlotte Townend
Charlotte, the founder of Wylder Retreats, believes yoga is the antidote to many modern ills, including stress, anxiety and insomnia. Her practice is dynamic, with varying styles included – from traditional vinyasa to restorative sessions – albeit more focused on self-awareness than calorie-burning. Each of her sessions finishes with a head, neck and shoulder massage. Charlotte is so convinced of the restorative powers of yoga that she takes progress pictures throughout your journey – you too can expect longer, leaner limbs, better posture and improved mobility. Classes are available online via Zoom or face to face – she currently splits her time between London and Ibiza.

Chris Magee
Martial artist and PT Chris discovered yoga when he was looking for ways to heal his sports injuries. Nearly 1,000 hours of training later – including hatha, vinyasa, rocket and acro-yoga – he’s now on a mission to bring the benefits of yoga to everyone. His classes are fun but challenging, and are tailored to your needs. If you’re just starting out, Chris will help you master the basics so you can enter a class setting with confidence, while more experienced yogis can use one-to-one time to refine their practice and build the technique and strength to master trickier, skill-based postures.

Nadia Narain
Nadia’s upbringing in Hong Kong cultivated an early affinity for a holistic eastern philosophy. Recognised as one of Europe’s leading yogis (her clients include Reese Witherspoon and Kate Moss), she has been teaching since 1996, helping everyone from athletes to expectant mums to build strength, flexibility and inner peace. Over time, you’ll feel less stressed, more balanced, and mentally lighter. In your sessions, focus on yoga, meditation or breathwork, or all three, or use the time for a wellness and lifestyle consultation. Be sure to book ahead with plenty of time – Nadia splits her time between LA and London and is only in London for part of the year.
