The Best Eyeshadow Palettes Rated By Makeup Artists

The Best Eyeshadow Palettes Rated By Makeup Artists

With gifting season upon us, and festive events in full swing that require a sultry smokey eye, Christmas is the perfect time to talk eyeshadow palettes. We enlisted the help of three of our favourite makeup artists, Lisa Potter-Dixon, Charlotte Cowen and Ruth Brophy, who have worked with the very best in the business, to share their favourites.

LISA POTTER-DIXON

Charlotte Tilbury’s Luxury Palette: The Dolce Vita

I love all of Charlotte’s quad eyeshadow palettes but The Dolce Vita is my favourite. It creates the perfect bronze smokey eye with a pop of sparkle

Pat McGrath’s Mothership II: Sublime Eyeshadow Palette

This palette is what dreams are made of! The pigment is exceptional and the selection of colours is beautiful. The green and the iridescent pink are my go-tos. Oh, and the gold and copper!

Fenty Beauty’s Moroccan Spice Eyeshadow Palette

This palette is jam-packed with warm-toned shadows that can create as soft or as bold a look as you like. The pressed glitters are gorgeous too. Apply with a fluffy eyeshadow brush for a wash of shimmer, or a damp concealer brush for full-on drama.

CHARLOTTE COWEN

Urban Decay’s Naked 3 Palette

There’s a reason why Urban Decay Naked palettes are so popular – the pigments are strong and the formulas last. This is probably the most universally wearable of them all, whether it’s an everyday makeup look your after, or glam smokey eyes.

Bobbi Brown’s Makeup Palette: The Matte Edition in Multi

This palette is so versatile, great for subtle contouring or building up for a more dramatic look. It’s completely matte so great if you’re adverse to any shimmer or shine. Plus, it comes with a brush and Bobbi’s iconic eyeliner for easy touch ups on the go.

Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette

For something a little deeper, the warm, rich shades of the Heat palette look gorgeous at this time of year. Perfect for making all eye colours pop.

RUTH BROPHY

Shiseido’s Essentialist Eye Palette in Kaigan Street Waters 04

I adore Shiseido eyeshadows for their amazing pay-off and super-fine texture. Their new palettes have just launched and this is my favourite colour combination with an amazing rich black and festive silver. I use the cobalt blue as a liner to change up from the usual black.

Becca’s Volcano Goddess Eyeshadow Palette

This may be the ultimate Christmas palette. Soft matte contour colours for daytime and metallic grey, rust and blue shades for night. This palette and a kohl liner should be all you need to take you from office to party. The powders all blend beautifully and I love the packaging too.

MAC’s Smarty Pants Palette

Smarty Pants is the most used pallet in my kit and is great for both pale and dark skin. It has a great mix of textures from shimmer to matte, and warm reddish and two great gold tones. I often use the pure orange, mixing it into concealer as a colour corrector too.
