A Note On Application...
My favourite way to apply cream eyeshadows is to press a small amount into the centre of the lid with either your ring finger or a flat eyeshadow brush. Don’t try and use a fluffy eyeshadow brush as the product will separate. When you’ve got a good amount in the centre of the eye, buff in or blend. The heat from your finger will help smooth the shadow evenly, or you can blend in a circular motion using a frim brush. Remember, to create a smokey eye that will suit your eye shape, blend into the socket but not too far above. Unless you have hooded eyes, blend so the shadow is visible when your eyes are open.

Layering cream shadows can be a bit tricky, and something I rarely do because I love how they look on their own. But if you want to give it a go, start with a cream and create depth with a powder shadow.

There are a few cream shadows available in stick form, but this is my favourite. It’s so easy to use – just glide it on the eye and blend. The formula is also long-wear and highly-pigmented. There are an array of colours and finishes, too, from mattes to glitters. If you’re new to cream shadows, these are a great starting point. For a smokey liner look, glide it along the lash line and blend. It’ll make eyelashes look thicker instantly.

Charlotte Tilbury Eyes To Mesmerise, £22
These are creamier than most, so less is more. The colour choice is gorgeous and the finish is metallic. Once you’ve buffed these over the lid, pat a little extra on the centre to brighten the eyes instantly.

Revlon Colour Stay Cream Eyeshadow, £6.99
These are a brand best-seller for a reason. They have a 24-hour wear, and the matte versions are seriously pigmented. The shimmers are equally good, and the colour choice is excellent.

MAC Longwear Paint Pot, £16.50
These are lovely; the formula is velvety and the tones are earthy. Perfect for everyday wear, they add a depth of colour that emphasises the eye. I like to buff these into the socket to create a shadow and make eyes look bigger.

Hourglass Scattered Light Cream Shadow, £26
These contain light reflecting pearls which look incredible alone, or over a powder shadow. If you’re looking for an easy way to wear glitter, this is it – the cream formula means that there’s no fallout.
