Use A Protein Treatment

“To start the repair process, it’s essential to focus on strengthening the hair from within. Begin with a protein-based treatment to rebuild and fortify the cuticles. Ideally, this should be done using a product that dispenses as a micro mist because this allows for deeper penetration, delivering not just proteins but also much-needed hydration. This combination helps to restore flexibility and balance moisture levels – crucial for reviving hair that has been exposed to sun, chlorine and salty water.” – Gustav Fouche

Ditch Any Sulphates

“Formulations with mild surfactants are fine, but sulphates and parabens can strip your hair of moisture, so try to use products that are free from both. If you colour your hair, make sure you use products that will protect it. Our Rich Cleanse Shampoo contains a protecting quinoa complex to give hair a hefty dose of nourishment.” – Sam McKnight

Up The Ante On Masks

“If you can, apply a hair mask every time you shampoo, then finish with a small amount of conditioner to seal it in. You can give instant mask treatments a try too – there are plenty available, including sprays that won’t weigh your hair down. Likewise, it’s important not to wash your hair every single day – if you are using the right, nourishing products you won’t need to. In fact, too much washing can lead to your scalp and hair drying out.” – Paul Edmonds

Try A Bond Repair Treatment

“In addition to protein treatments, look for products that contain ingredients like keratin, collagen and amino acids. These components work together to repair the hair’s structure and improve its overall health. As for bond repair treatments, they can be highly effective in rebuilding the internal bonds of the hair, which are often broken down by UV exposure and chemical damage. Treatments like those by Olaplex or K18 are well regarded in the industry for their ability to restore strength and resilience to compromised hair.” – Gustav

Seal In The Moisture

“One of the best things you can do to make your hair look healthier is to maintain a regular moisturising routine. Use elixirs or serums rich in nourishing oils like amla and sea kelp to lock in moisture, add shine and protect against further damage. Consistent care and the right treatments can make a significant difference in the health and appearance of your hair.” – Gustav

Be Gentle With Wet Hair

“Brushing your hair when it’s wet will only cause more damage. Try combing a conditioner through your hair immediately after you’ve washed it to bind the product right into the hair shaft – the smoothness of the formula will mean you’re less likely to pull or snag your hair as you go. The same goes for drying your hair after you wash it. Avoid any vigorous towel-drying as this can cause further damage to the cuticle. Instead, loosely wrap your hair in a towel and leave it to dry naturally.” – Ken O’Rourke

Focus On Split Ends

“As well as a weekly mask treatment, look out for products that are specifically designed to treat split ends. There are so many now, from oils and serums to dedicated deep conditioners. You only need to massage in a small amount, but it’ll make a big difference to the appearance of your ends – think glossier and healthier with a softer look and feel.” – Sam
