The Location
With great spots in London, Amsterdam, Paris, Edinburgh and Barcelona, Kimpton Aysla Mallorca – part of IHG Hotels & Resorts – is the first of the stylish hotel group’s resorts in Europe. Part of the same 17-brand strong portfolio as Six Senses, InterContinental and Hotel Indigo, the hotel is surrounded by lush native gardens, the modern property offers guests everything they need – from wellness treatments to leisure activities. It’s right next to the 18-hole course where the PGA Mallorca Golf Open is held and the Mallorca Country Club, where the ATP Tour Mallorca Championships takes place – and both are available for guests to book. It’s also close to one of the island’s famously sandy beaches, bikes are available to hire, and there are plenty of local hikes for guests who want to add a bit of adventure to their holiday.
The Hotel
Blending traditional architectural details with modern touches, the hotel promises a luxurious Mallorquin escape. Its ultimate goal is to make guests feel relaxed – there’s 24-hour room service, lots of workshops to take part in, a social hour where guests can meet and have a glass of wine, plus a spa by Maison Codage. The 78-room hotel and social sports club also includes two restaurants, a bar, ballroom, terraces and covered terraces, two outdoor pools and Mediterranean gardens. Guests can start their day with a morning workout, followed by a laid-back breakfast and a chilled almond horchata by one of the pools. As the sun sets, balmy evenings can be spent on the terrace with a bottle of organic wine and great local dishes.
The Accomodation
All 78 bedrooms and suites were designed by Mallorquin architect Guillermo Rennés. Featuring elegant Mediterranean interiors, the rooms blend touches of traditional architecture with contemporary accents. All rooms are 33sq m and include a king bed, two twins or one queen, and all rooms have their own private balconies and large windows to fill the space with natural light. After an upgrade? The Essential Rooms also come with a private garden.
The Restaurants
The restaurants and bars on offer include everything from a stylish poolside venue to a signature restaurant combining the rich traditions and ingredients of Spanish cuisine with the vibrant flavours of Korean and Japan. SABA Restaurant is a Japanese/Peruvian/Mediterranean fusion concept with a theatre kitchen and private dining room. Expect fresh-from-the-boat Mallorquin seafood cooked via progressive pan-Asian techniques.
Elsewhere, SABA Bar serves tapas. The chic indoor-outdoor bar is available to enjoy year-round, from morning to late into the night, and serves coffees as good as its evening cocktails. ZAYT Pool Restaurant & Bar is a poolside spot serving pizza straight from the wood oven and chargrilled dishes from the Josper grill. It’s the ideal place to recline and dine on casual Mallorca small plates and sample classic cocktails while relaxing by the water.
The Spa
The resort offers a progressive take on health-conscious lifestyles, combining active leisure with relaxation. Its spa spans 3,000sq m over two floors, and comes with a large indoor pool, vitality pool, sauna, steam bath, salt room, mud bathing room, pedicure manicure salon, eight treatment rooms and large gym facilities including a yoga studio.
