The Best Places To Shop In Amsterdam

Amsterdam doesn’t have the world-famous department stores of other European capitals. Its best shops tend to be small, independent boutiques, which are great for unique self-gifting, but can be harder to find. From high-fashion ateliers to pre-loved boutiques, we’ve done the digging for you and unearthed them here…

FASHION

Carmen

Carmen Atiyah de Baets is a talented curator. She has an eye for below-the-radar fashion and accessories from across the globe: look for Corali jewellery from Copenhagen, Paris-based Fane’s understated leather bags, and Olga Basha’s New York-made denim at her chic store on Keizersgracht canal.

Rika Studios

At her elegant, canal-side boutique, Ulrika Lundgren showcases the architectural, design-forward pieces of her own label – many crafted at a family run atelier in Italy – alongside a considered edit of exclusive jewellery, modish accessories and niche fragrances.

Girls of Dust

A label born in the Belgian fashion capital of Antwerp, Girls of Dust opened its Amsterdam outpost in 2024. A sister line to the motorbiking-inspired menswear of Eat Dust, its designs have a unique, outsiderish edge. Pieces are made in Portugal from European and Japanese fabrics, meaning quality is high and cuts are flattering.

Denham

In a strange case of nominative determinism, Jason Denham ended up in denim. The English jeans maker sources the finest fabrics from mills in Japan and Italy to create precision-cut pieces that promise comfort, durability and timeless style. Denham has stores around the world now, but its flagship on Prinsengracht is still the best place to get to know the brand.
