The Night Out To Book This Season
the VENUE
Party season is just around the corner, and if you’re looking for a fun night out with friends, Lío London is the place to be. Having recently won Best Live Entertainment Venue of the Year at the 2023 Lifestyle Awards, this new destination is a Mediterranean-inspired immersive restaurant, live show and afterparty. Having cemented its status as a staple on the Ibiza party scene, as well as welcoming London to its list of locations, Lío has also opened its doors in Mykonos and Mallorca and will soon open its doors in Las Vegas during the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix as a pop-up. Future openings include Dubai in 2024.
Launching in the grand space off Leicester Square, which used to be home to the legendary Café de Paris, Lío London is continuing the venue’s tradition of hosting extravagant parties and noteworthy live entertainment. Now, back with a second season Lío London brings a new experience – Besos, Beats and Beauties – featuring provocative, sensual choreographies, feel-good musical performances and humorous acts.
Since opening earlier this year, Lío London has attracted plenty of famous faces including Idris Elba, Mollie King, Kimberly Wyatt, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Leah Williamson. The club’s latest season kicked off during London Fashion Week, with a party featuring a performance from pop queen Kylie Minogue. Here’s everything you need to know about its latest production…
the EXPERIENCE
Best shared with a group of friends, Lío is a theatrical dining experience bringing a taste of Ibiza to London. Each season, the team creates a one-of-a-kind show – incorporating artists, acrobats, singers and dancers – in which everyone from those on stage to the wait staff perform vignettes, creating a form of interaction that ensures everyone gets up to dance by the end of the show. Curated by Lío’s longstanding creative director Joan Gràcia, the night is designed to be an unforgettable experience – a sexy, sensual and modern reinterpretation of cabaret – paired with Lío’s signature cuisine.
After dinner, the venue is transformed into a nightclub until late. Every Friday offers deep house music, with local and international party brands such a Yucatan, Isola Di Mortorio or Bazar by Sasson, while Saturday sees ‘Lío Lates' take over the venue, with a combination of wild acts and club atmosphere where DJs play loudly between the performances for a full-on night of hedonism. Once a month, Lío hosts big DJ names – most recently Jamie Jones and Nic Fanciulli, with Seth Troxler and Fat Tony recently announced for the rest of the year.
the SHOW
This season’s theme is Besos, Beats and Beauties. It puts a focus on Ibiza’s pulsating beats and – as the team says – beauty in all its forms. The group’s world-class troupe of performers will have hearts racing with a show that meanders through the sublime and surreal to the seemingly impossible.
Inspired by the Ibizan glamour the group is known for, the experience includes a selection of Mediterranean dishes created by former Kensington Palace executive chef Attila Kalanyos. Much like the show, the menu is full of surprises. A revamped cocktail menu is also available, created by in-house mixologist George Tsoukas and inspired by the show’s theme – expect everything from whisky to champagne and sweet and citrus-based cocktails. The signature ‘Billionaire’s Kiss’ features Johnny Walker Blue with notes of hazelnut and coffee – a fun twist on an espresso martini, and the ideal way to end the meal before the dancing begins.
the SPACE
Award-winning Spanish design studio Lázaro Rosa-Violán oversaw the transformation of Lío London, taking great care to preserve the heritage elements of the Grade II-listed building. Mirrored ceilings and a moveable DJ booth are central to the space, with the original 1924 elegant double-sided staircase cascading down either side. Guests can sit in the middle of the action on the original ballroom floor, or on the wraparound mezzanine with a bird’s-eye view of the performance. Meanwhile, British multimedia artist Jan Erika was commissioned to bring the curved walkway to life with 18 hand-painted doors. Her large-scale figurative designs, inspired by the silhouette and lines of the human body are elegant yet daring – much like the show itself – and the ideal backdrop for a photo or two to remember the evening.
the DETAILS
To enjoy the evening, guests can choose between tables and standing tickets. Tables include a full dining experience and an à la carte menu, with a £150pp minimum spend for tables on the VIP balcony area and a £250pp minimum spend for tables on the ballroom floor. The £50 standing show tickets include access to the balcony area and bar. Everyone attending the show also has access to the club, where you are invited to the dance floor to continue the party.
