TRY SOMEWHERE NEW:

Khao Bird

A Thai eatery has opened above The Globe Tavern in Borough Market. It comes from restaurateur Mike Palmer – known for Lucky Khao in Brighton – and is his first London outpost. The cuisine is northern Thai BBQ, inspired by the open-air markets in and around Chiang Mai. Casual and authentic, the menu is a playful take on traditional street-food snacks and dishes – think BBQ lemongrass gai yang (grilled marinated chicken) and coconut khao soi (curry and noodles).

MEET THE GIRLS:

Tamila By Tamil Prince

Desi pub The Tamil Prince has reached cult-like status in north London. Now, its founders have branched out south of the river with a new casual dining concept, Tamila, which opened this week on Clapham’s Northcote Road. After resounding success as a pop-up, the spot has gone back to its roots, elevating the traditional curry house. Flaky rotis and authentic curries will be core to the menu, along with some new additions and an Indian-inspired drinks menu. We’re eyeing up the chilli cheese dosa.

Emerging artists Jade Pearl, Kelly Anna, Ken Nwadiogbu, Alexa Sirbu and Xu Yang have taken on the challenge of  interpreting what the other half of Warhol’s close-up print of an Absolut vodka bottle – which was rediscovered earlier this year – would look like. Entry is free.
