FOOD & DRINK

ALTA’s Vermouth Weekend

In a timely nod to the growing appetite for lighter, more nuanced drinking – and in honour of World Vermouth Day – ALTA is dedicating an entire weekend to the aperitivo. From 20th–22nd March, the Soho spot will serve a limited-edition ‘Vermouth Hour’ menu in collaboration with Bristol-based The Aperitivo Co. Expect a line-up of low-ABV, flavour-led cocktails – mezcal and jasmine negroni or dry vermouth and olive lemonade to name a few – designed to sip alongside snacks or a full meal.

Kingly Court, Carnaby Street, Soho, W1B 5PW; 20th-22nd March

Wilsons x Chishuru: One-Night-Only Supper

For one night only, Michelin-starred Chishuru teams up with Bristol favourite Wilsons for an evening that’s set to be one of the most exciting meals of the month. Chefs Adejoké Bakare and Jan Ostle, alongside Mary Wilson, will merge West African flavours with hyper-seasonal British produce – much of it grown at Wilsons’ own market garden. Expect inventive, boundary-pushing dishes – from moinmoin with truffle to raw scallop with consommé – alongside thoughtful wines and bold, spice-led cocktails. Tickets are £105pp.

Burro

From the chef behind Trullo comes one of the season’s most anticipated openings. At Burro, Conor Gadd goes solo, bringing his signature, ingredient-led Italian cooking to Covent Garden. Taking over the former Petersham site, the space blends Irish country house warmth with the charm of a 1950s Italian bistro. On the menu, it’s a confident line-up of classics done well: Venetian chicken liver bruschetta, fried artichokes with bottarga, duck and porcini ragù, and Roman-style fettuccine Alfredo. Larger plates – Dover sole with caviar or lobster acqua pazza – add a touch of indulgence, while tiramisu bomboloni provide a suitably decadent finish.
