Odysea

High-quality olive oil is having a moment, with more people learning about its production and keen to experience the health benefits. Greek and Mediterranean food producer Odysea has launched its extra virgin olive oil at Waitrose and Sainsbury’s. What makes this olive oil stand out is its high levels of polyphenols – powerful antioxidants known to support heart health, reduce inflammation and protect against chronic diseases. Harvested from unique Koroneiki olives in Crete, it has a slightly bitter and peppery taste that’s perfect for everyday cooking and salad dressings. Odysea has also launched ten exclusive products at Sainsbury’s, including Kalamata olives, giant baked beans, stuffed vine leaves, and two glazes, one a tasty balsamic infused with truffle.

Moi Et Toi Bakery

Some fantastic bakeries have popped up around the capital this year, and the latest place to visit is in Notting Hill. Moi et Toi is a new project from Harneet Baweja – the founder of Gunpowder group and nearby Indian restaurant Empire Empire – and Edward Delling Williams, founder of Paris’s Le Grand Bain. Each morning, the bakery takes over Empire Empire with a menu of sweet treats, including coconut and stewed pineapple buns, peanut butter pain au chocolat, earl grey custard tarts, and roasted peach and cardamom custard buns. Savoury options include a croque monsieur croissant, and pastries filled with charred leeks or cacio e pepe.

Habitat x Andi & Miquita Oliver

Andi and Miquita Oliver have teamed up with homeware brand Habitat to celebrate its 60th anniversary, creating three new recipes using its iconic chicken brick. The brick was originally designed in the 60s, and the Habitat team gave theirs an update this year with a sleek black design. Perfect for cooking whole chickens in the oven, and preserving the juices and gravy, it’s a useful piece to have in your kitchen. You can watch Andi cook the recipes on Instagram here, including a spicy whole roasted jalapeño lemon chicken.

Vino Van

Whether you’re hosting a milestone birthday or getting ideas for summer celebrations next year, Vino Van is a new mobile wine van to have on your radar. It’s housed in a 1960s Airstream with mid-century interiors that serves as both a working bar and a cosy private tasting space. There’s a solid oak counter from which drinks can be served outside, as well as two internal wine fridges, a front bar with a hatch, and seating areas. The team will bring the wines and expertise, so all you have to decide is who to invite.

Sylva

Ben Branson, founder of Seedlip, has opened Sylva, a non-alcoholic distillery and maturation lab in Essex. The lab will create small batches of non-alcoholic ‘spirits’ that will mimic the complexity and richness of aged spirits, using innovative techniques like sonic maturation and vacuum distillation. Sylva’s first release, Padauk (named after a type of West African wood), is rich and textured, with notes of red oak and rye and a full-bodied mouthfeel. Sylva’s made-to-order spirits come in at <0.5% ABV, with its first product available for pre-order on their website. Bottles of Padauk will cost £40 for 500ml and will be dispatched in November.
