FRIDAY
Since moving from London to the Wiltshire countryside a couple of years ago, I have become a real homebody. Friday nights are usually earmarked as family night after the madness of the week – so we cook something delicious together, catch up at dinner, then watch a family movie with the kids.
I love to cook pumpkin ravioli, or Ottolenghi’s wild rice, nut and caramelised onion salad – it takes forever but is worth the wait. For cookbooks, at the moment I'm loving Berber & Q by Josh Katz. The cauliflower shawarma is epic and the hummus recipe is 100% worth going homemade for. Besides that, as a household, we are big pickled onion fans – a game-changer for salads and sandwiches.
When it comes to produce, we supplement a supermarket shop with ingredients from our local farm shop Allington. In London, I love The Grocer On Elgin for lazy evenings after work. It has the most amazing pre-prepared meals with super-fresh ingredients.
I used to catch up with friends over a midweek dinner. But, since moving out of the capital, we often have friends stay for the weekend, which is lovely and at a much-welcomed slower pace. My ultimate Friday night is a house full of old friends, tacos, cocktails and great music.

SATURDAY
I love to take a leisurely walk around Bath on a Saturday – I still pinch myself that we have this amazing city on our doorstep. In the countryside we are spoilt with open fields right opposite our house. When in London, it has to be Hampstead Heath or a stroll through Portobello.
There is a wonderful book shop called Mr. B’s Emporium nearby. I could happily spend a couple of hours there. I’d follow this up with a late lunch at The Beckford Canteen which is a lovely little restaurant in Bath, before heading home for an evening by the fire with my husband – ideally with a margarita in hand. I love the winter season as it’s a valid excuse to light an all-day, roaring fire. I'm a complete pyromaniac. At the moment we’re watching Mad Men – we are always a little late to the party.
When I’m spending a weekend in the city, I make sure to hit up my favourite restaurants. I love Gold in Notting Hill which is right around the corner from our studio – also nearby is Tonkotsu, which does the best ramen and is perfect for a quick midweek bite. There’s Le Choux in Notting Hill for the lightest, sweetest profiteroles or Golborne Deli (which is luckily directly opposite the Trove shop) for the best flat white in town. My favourite cosy pub has to be The Cow. I love the seafood platter for sharing with friends by the bar. For a cocktail, it’s a spicy picante all the way – the ones at Soho House are the best and far too drinkable.

If I was on my own for a weekend, I would use it to do all the things my children would find incredibly boring. Antiques market scouring, National Trust house snooping and a bit of gallery hopping. If I’ve made it into the city, I would start the day with a late brunch for one at Granger & Co in Notting Hill, followed by a wander through Holland Park to Leighton House. After an inspiration-laden tour full of pattern, details and tile (three of my very favourite things), I would head to Pimlico Road for a rare agenda-free stroll and window-shopping session. As this is my dream weekend, I think I would then have to hotfoot it to Claridge’s for a spot of pampering in the new spa designed by André Fu. I would pack in a massage, steam and swim before retiring to my hotel room for a room-service dinner, large glass of wine and a movie in my bathrobe. Bliss.
Paris is always a winner for a weekend away. But I have somehow never made it to Amsterdam, so this is firmly on the wish list for 2024.
SUNDAY
We usually have a hearty breakfast of eggs, bacon and avocado before taking the dog for a long walk in the fields opposite our house. At the moment, I’m living in mohair sweaters, wide-legged trousers and adidas trainers. My coat of the season is a black cord belted number from Cefinn – the perfect day-to-night coat.
Sunday afternoons are often spent in a local pub – The Langley Tap or the Potting Shed in the Cotswolds – or taking a wander around an antiques market. The best place for a Sunday roast is my dining table. My husband is an excellent cook and his roasts are legendary.
I really miss painting and never find the time for it these days, so on a perfect day I would head back home to the Cotswolds and spend the rest of the day doing that.
On Sunday evening it’s time for a hot bath with Aromatherapy Associates bath oil and my Verden Arborealist candle to set me up for a good night’s sleep before the Monday morning mania starts all over again. I read pretty much exclusively in the bath before bedtime – it’s an excellent way to de-compress and immerse myself in another world to help prepare for a good night’s sleep. I’m reading Crossroads by Jonathan Franzen. It’s early days but I’m really enjoying it.
