Now, 25 years on, this expansive documentary looks at the lasting impact, using the attacks as a jumping-off point to explore how they shaped modern America – from gun control and community relations to conspiracy theories and the country’s changing sense of self. It’s wide-ranging without losing sight of the people at the centre of the story, including a particularly moving contribution from the daughter of the co-pilot of United 93, the fourth plane brought down by its passengers and crew.

The Gentlemen, Netflix

Theo James is back as Eddie Horniman in the second season of Guy Ritchie’s glossy crime drama. A year on from inheriting his aristocratic family estate and stumbling into a rather lucrative relationship with the criminal underworld, Eddie is no longer playing catch-up. Alongside Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario), he’s expanding the family business and discovering that life as a gangster suits him surprisingly well. Of course, bigger ambitions tend to bring bigger problems. As Bobby Glass (Ray Winstone) begins making increasingly questionable decisions, Eddie and Susie are forced to consider whether to intervene before the whole operation starts to unravel.

Glen Powell’s gloriously ridiculous football comedy returns for a second season, with disgraced quarterback Russ Holliday still hiding behind the prosthetics and questionable accent of his alter ego, Chad Powers. The problem? His secret is becoming increasingly difficult to keep. When Chad takes a serious hit on the field and his disguise starts to fall apart, his carefully constructed second chance looks decidedly less secure.

The Death Of Robin Hood, Cinemas Nationwide

Forget the heroic outlaw in green tights. This darker reimagining of the classic legend finds Robin Hood at the end of a long and violent life. Hugh Jackman takes on the title role as an older, wounded and increasingly haunted Robin, forced to confront the consequences of everything he has done.

When Robin finds himself in the care of a mysterious woman who may offer him one final chance at redemption, the familiar story takes a far more atmospheric and melancholic turn. Directed by Pig filmmaker Michael Sarnoski, the film also stars Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett and Noah Jupe.

The Incomer, Cinemas Nationwide

Things are decidedly strange on this remote Scottish island, where siblings Isla and Sandy have spent the past three decades living almost entirely cut off from the outside world. Hunting seabirds, telling stories about mythical creatures and fiercely defending their patch of land, they have little interest in reconnecting with civilization. That changes when Daniel (Domhnall Gleeson), an awkward official tasked with relocating them to the mainland, arrives on the island. Naturally, he isn’t exactly welcomed with open arms. As Daniel attempts to navigate the siblings’ unusual way of life, Isla is also increasingly troubled by visions of a mysterious sea creature known as the Finman. Darkly funny and distinctly eccentric.

The Grand Tour, Prime Video

There’s a rather significant change of drivers in the latest instalment of The Grand Tour, with James Engelsman, Thomas Holland and Francis Bourgeois taking over from Clarkson, Hammond and May. Before the baton is officially passed, the new hosts head to Diddley Squat Farm for a suitably awkward handover, before setting off on their own adventures. The format remains reassuringly familiar: spectacular cars, questionable decisions, an intimidating road trip through the Angolan desert and an appearance from Jenson Button. The energy is younger, sillier and decidedly more YouTube, but petrolheads should still find plenty to enjoy.
