FRIDAY

A Thousand Blows, Disney+

Steven Knight has a knack for creating gritty period dramas set in Birmingham – from Peaky Blinders to the 1980s-set This Town. But this time, he’s heading south. Set in 1880s London, A Thousand Blows lands on Disney+, starring Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty – and it’s shaping up to be a must-watch. Inspired by real-life stories, the series dives into the brutal world of bare-knuckle boxing in the East End. The story follows Hezekiah Moscow and Alec Munroe, best friends from Jamaica, as they navigate London’s ruthless underground fight scene. Alongside Graham, the stellar cast includes Malachi Kirby (Wicked Little Letters) and Francis Lovehall (Small Axe). Expect grit, drama and plenty of punches – both in and out of the ring.

SUNDAY

1923, Paramount+

Yellowstone may be over, but 1923 is back with a new season. While the original series earned critical acclaim, its greatest legacy might just be its star-laden prequel spin-offs – this one features Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. This time, the Duttons face fresh challenges in the early 20th century, from western expansion to the looming Great Depression. Ford and Mirren return as Jacob and Cara Dutton, fighting to protect their ranch from the relentless Banner Creighton and his powerful backer, Donald Whitfield.
