The White Horse, Parsons Green

South-west London favourite The White Horse – affectionately known as The Sloaney Pony – is officially back, following a full refurbishment just in time for spring. The Victorian pub now boasts a refreshed dining room, an upgraded outdoor space and a clear shift in mood upstairs: think calmer, lighter and made for lingering lunches. Downstairs remains as buzzy as ever, while the first floor is ideal for celebrations or long, wine-fuelled catch-ups. To mark the relaunch, there’s a compelling opening offer: three courses of the menu’s standout new dishes for £36 per person, available Monday to Friday until 6th March.

CULTURE

Lucian Freud: Drawing Into Painting

The National Portrait Gallery hosts a first this spring: the UK’s first museum exhibition dedicated entirely to Lucian Freud’s works on paper. Spanning from the 1930s to the early 2000s, the show brings together drawings, etchings and studies that reveal Freud’s obsessive focus on the human body and face. Shown alongside a select group of paintings, the exhibition explores how drawing fed directly into his painted work – raw, intimate and unsparing. Plus, several pieces are being displayed publicly for the first time, making this an essential stop for art fans.

National Portrait Gallery, Saint Martin’s Place; until 4th May 2026

Tracey Emin: A Second Life

Opening this week at Tate Modern, A Second Life is the most comprehensive exhibition of Tracey Emin’s career to date. Spanning 40 years and more than 90 works, the show traces Emin’s evolution from her early, confessional pieces to her powerful post-illness practice. Expect paintings, neons, textiles, sculptures and landmark installations – including My Bed – alongside deeply personal works addressing trauma, sexuality, abortion and survival. It’s raw, emotional and unflinching, reaffirming Emin’s place as one of Britain’s most important living artists.

Topshop’s Oxford Street Pop-Up

Topshop (and Topman) have officially returned to the high street – via John Lewis Oxford Street – and the nostalgia is very real. To mark the comeback, the brand has launched a limited-time pop-up outside the flagship store, complete with a curated edit of its most in-demand new-season pieces. There’s also a playful nod to its magazine-era heyday with The Topshop Times, plus a caffeine pit-stop courtesy of Benugo, serving everything from classic lattes to matcha.
