TRY NEW FLAVOURS:

Ruben’s Reubens at Seed Library

Today, Brixton smokehouse Ruben’s Reubens opens a two-month pop-up at Seed Library at One Hundred Shoreditch. Start with dishes like smoked cheddar croquettes and sweet ’n’ sour mushrooms followed by mains of salt beef brisket spring rolls with Russian dressing, braised pork cheeks with hot sauce, or cured sausage with pastrami. Finish off the meal with one of Mr Lyan’s signature cocktails – we like the ‘Toreador’, made with Patron tequila, apricot brandy and lime.

CATCH A FILM:

All the Beauty and the Bloodshed

This new documentary explores the career of Nan Goldin, the celebrated photographer and activist who, over the last few years, has staged various protests about the Sacklers – the American family who owned the multibillion-pound pharmaceutical business Purdue Pharma which created OxyContin. The drug is considered to be the driving force of the opioid crisis in the US, and Goldin herself was addicted to the drug for several years. After founding the group PAIN (Prescription Addiction Intervention Now) she targeted some of America’s most famous galleries and museums which benefited from generous donations from the Sacklers. A fascinating watch if you’re interested in America’s catastrophic opioid crisis and the Sackler family’s fall from grace.
