Passalaqua X Assouline

Nicknamed the ‘Queen of the Lake’, Italian hotel Passalacqua has a new book out with publishing powerhouse Assouline. Titled Passalacqua: A Love Letter to Lake Como, the book explores the history and serenity of this famed property, all showcased through Assouline's trademark beautiful imagery and illustration. This volume was created in close collaboration with owners Paolo, Antonella and Valentina De Santis, inviting readers to spend unforgettable days and nights within the grounds of Passalacqua, along with exclusive illustrations from Andrea Ferolla, photography from Daria Reina and reflections from guests such as J.J. Martin, Donna Hay and Emilia Wickstead.

THE FASHION TAKEOVER:

The Newt X Burberry

Burberry has taken over The Newt in Somerset’s estate for the summer. Until 18th August, guests can expect to see Burberry’s world-famous check pattern woven into the fabric of the estate, including branded Burberry parasols and golf buggies. These buggies will be on hand to tour the 2,000-acre gardens, where the Burberry Check will be mown into The Newt’s croquet lawn. Guests are also welcome to explore the estate from a Burberry hot-air balloon. Those planning a sporting summer can visit the badminton court, kitted out with custom Burberry racquets and a Burberry net. And at a special boutique in the grounds, pieces from Burberry’s SS25 collection will be available to purchase.

Canal

The brilliant team behind Crispin and Bistro Freddie have opened Canal in Westbourne Park. Along the Grand Union Canal, the restaurant and bar come with a large summer-ready, south-facing terrace, and a bistro-style menu by New York-born chef Adrian Hernandez Farina. They’ve teamed up with some cool collaborators too: signature cocktails on tap are made by acclaimed east-London bar A Bar with Shapes for a Name, while bespoke uniforms have been created by British fashion designer Nicholas Daley.

Portofino hotspot Splendido, A Belmond Hotel has reopened following a huge renovation by Martin Brudnizi Design Studio. The 16th-century Benedictine monastery turned glamorous sanctuary now pays tribute to the building’s heritage by showcasing the finest Ligurian craftsmanship with a contemporary edge. Alongside the beautifully redesigned rooms, suites, pool and restaurants, Splendido has a vibrant new bar, Baratta Sedici, that captures the glamorous spirit of Portofino, as well as the first permanent Dior Spa in Italy. It has also launched Villa Beatrice, a one-of-a-kind majestic private summer residence overlooking the sea.
