Coq d’Argent
Coq d’Argent has had a sparkling summer makeover. In partnership with Piper-Heidsieck, the City rooftop has been transformed into a dreamy champagne garden – complete with parasols, panoramic skyline views and a menu of elegant French plates. There’s plenty to toast: Piper’s full champagne range is available by the glass or bottle, including the 2013 Rare Millésime Brut and 2018 Essentiel Blanc de Blancs. Pair your fizz with truffle arancini, oysters, Devon white crab or a jaw-dropping fruits de mer platter. There’s also a £40 three-course set menu on Fridays through Mondays, and DJ sets every Friday from 5pm until sunset.

FOR FOODIES:
Rick Stein X Fortnum & Mason
Fortnum & Mason has teamed up with legendary seafood chef Rick Stein and his son Jack to celebrate 50 years of their iconic Padstow site, The Seafood Restaurant. At Fortnum’s bar and restaurant inside The Royal Exchange, diners can tuck into a new limited-edition menu featuring five nostalgic dishes that span Rick’s five-decade career. Think: a classic Provençal-style fish soup, perfectly poached turbot with hollandaise and a rich chocolate fondant to round things off. The space itself is elegant and atmospheric, with views across the historic Royal Exchange courtyard. After lunch? Head downstairs for a spot of shopping in Fortnum’s jewellery, wine and beauty departments.

FOR THEATRE-GOERS:
London Road
Back by popular demand, London Road returns to the National Theatre for a limited run. Alecky Blythe and Adam Cork’s genre-defying verbatim musical is based on real interviews with residents of Ipswich, following the 2006 murders by the so-called Ipswich Strangler. Set to haunting choral music, it explores how a community comes together in the wake of tragedy. Visually striking and sonically unusual, it’s part of outgoing artistic director Rufus Norris’s final season and is still unlike anything else in British theatre. Tickets start from £20.

FOR DOING GOOD:
Too Many Critics
One for foodies and philanthropists alike: Too Many Critics returns this June, with some of the UK’s top restaurant critics trading pens for pans. For one night only, they’ll cook a five-course dinner at Roe – the slick new restaurant from the team behind Fallow and FOWL – to raise money for Action Against Hunger. Expect dishes like Devon crab with kaffir lime, and a ‘surf & turf’ of grilled lobster tail with aged beef fillet, followed by a silent and live auction of once-in-a-lifetime foodie experiences. Past events have raised over £140k – and this year’s line-up looks set to do the same.
