7 Ways To Better Your Bedtime

7 Ways To Better Your Bedtime

We’re all guilty of neglecting our time to relax but getting into good habits before bed can be the difference between tossing and turning all night and waking feeling rested. From the comfiest clothes to the apps that help you switch off, we sat down with Sadie Reid, wellness expert and founder of Luxe + Hardy, the cool new rest wear brand to know, for her golden rules for getting a better night’s sleep...

Change into something comfortable: Luxe + Hardy are set on redefining evening wear. Championing the mantra #dolesslivemore, we believe you should invest in rest by being just as concerned about what you wear to bed as what you dress in during the day. The range is relaxed, off-duty wear and designed with sleep in mind. Start by putting on Luxe + Hardy’s Reset Jumper and sweat pants to feel instantly calm and content before bedtime. Alternatively, go for the grandad shirt and sleep pants to get you ready to hop into bed straight away.

Reflect on your day: To end your day in a positive headspace, it’s a good idea to take some time to reflect. Write down the good things that happened to you during the day, the things you are grateful for, the progress you made or step you took to get you closer to a goal. Remember to keep negativity out of it so that at the end of the month, you’ll have a diary filled with positive thoughts to look back on. This should help to prevent your mind from wandering to a negative space when you settle down to sleep.

Meditate: Meditating in the evening can be a great way to unwind and get rid of any negative thoughts. If you’re a beginner and don’t know where to start, apps like Headspace and Sexy Mind (available to download from the app store) will support you in your journey to taking control of your mind and breathing. Even a couple of evening sessions a week can make a huge difference.

Flow it out with yoga: Incorporating yoga into your everyday routine is great to stretch out the body (especially after a desk-bound day) and release any tension and stress from a busy day. Try searching for Boho Beautiful on YouTube to find a range of videos dedicated to deep sleep and gentle relaxation and be prepared to feel zen.

Run a bath: Light a candle, pop on your most chilled Spotify playlist and enjoy a warm bath. We recommend Sister & Co’s bath soak to relax your muscles and soften skin, together with Neom’s Tranquillity Candle burning in the background for ultimate relaxation.

Disconnect: An hour before bedtime, step away from your phone and laptop and concentrate on you. Studies have suggested the white and blue light emitted from our devices prevent our brains from releasing melatonin (the sleep hormone), stopping our minds from switching off. So, try and switch off literally and metaphorically, and you might find yourself falling asleep a whole lot quicker.

Try a pillow mist: Wake up every morning smelling like you’ve just left the spa with Neom’s night series Pillow Mist. Not only does it smell divine, it also helps to promote a restful sleep. Slip into your Luxe + Hardy sleep set – it’s made from breathable fabric to help keep you comfortable all night long – spray the mist on your pillow, snuggle up and prepare for the best night’s sleep you’ve ever had.
