What's New At the Supermarket

Whether it’s one of our favourite pizza restaurants expanding its at-home range or an award-winning gin now available in the supermarket, these are the latest products and discoveries to look out for during your next weekly shop.

Pizza Pilgrims Pizza Kits For Two, £14.50

Pizza Pilgrims’ frying-pan pizzas were a lockdown success story and now the at-home pizza kits are available to buy exclusively from Ocado. Pizza fans will be able to choose between two classics: the margherita (£14.50) with Italian tomatoes, Neapolitan fior di latte mozzarella and a sprinkle of Italian matured hard cheese, and the Double Pepperoni & Spicy Honey (£17.50), featuring traditionally cured Hungarian pepperoni and a drizzle of spicy honey.

Pip & Nut Dark Chocolate & Sea Salt Almond Butter, £1.99 (was £3.99)

Looking to upgrade your weekend breakfast? Pip & Nut’s latest limited-edition flavour is almond butter with dark chocolate and sea salt. The jar combines rich, sustainable cocoa with the brand’s signature smooth almond butter, a sprinkling of Cornish sea salt and almond nibs to give it a bit of extra crunch – all with zero palm oil.

Mr Organic Passata, £2.09

Plant-based brand Mr Organic has launched two tomato passatas – Chilli & Garlic Passata Sauce and Mixed Herbs Passata Sauce. Both made in Italy, using methods passed down by three generations of Italian tomato producers, these sauces have a wonderfully thick texture, contain one of your five a day and are made 100% organically using extra virgin olive oil and sun-ripened tomatoes. The jars are available on Ocado and from Abel & Cole, and are also vegan friendly and gluten free.

El Sueño Watermelon Tequila Liqueur, £18

El Sueño, a sustainable and affordable ‘mixto’ tequila, has launched its Watermelon Tequila Liqueur in Tesco. Gluten free and vegan, the drink is made with real fruit and sweetened with piloncillo, an unrefined Mexican sugar. It’s this that gives the liqueur a subtle balance of fruity and citrusy notes, alongside the fresh undertones that come from agave. The ideal spirit for making some late-summer watermelon margaritas.

Babease, £1.40

Babease creates portable pouches filled with flavours and textures for children aged four months and up. New to the collection is its Greek-Style Yoghurt, Prunes & Oats; Yoghurt, Peach, Rhubarb & Oats and Avocado; and Yoghurt, Spinach & Oats flavours. Complementary to feeding stage one, the pouches introduce little ones to their first taste of predominantly solid foods, while continuing to breast or formula feed. Best served chilled or at room temperature, they can be squeezed into a bowl or straight onto a spoon.

M&S Letterbox Chocolate Brownies, £12

In need of a last-minute present idea? M&S has created a selection of chocolate brownies designed to be sent in the post. Waitrose has created a fresh range of its popular No 1 macaroni cheese. One of the better selections of supermarket ready meals out there, the fresh flavours include garlic mushroom (roasted mushrooms in a white wine and garlic sauce), three cheeses (cheddar, mozzarella and pecorino), and beef ragu (tender beef slow cooked with red wine, beef stock, thyme and garlic). An ideal supper for those evenings when you don’t have time to cook – just add a peppery green salad.
