Georgia Day Runs Us Through Her January Reset
Go Deep With Skincare
Afterglow Ceramide Cleansing Balm, £65 | Dr David Jack
Revitalift Laser Tripeptide Serum, £31.99 | L'Oréal Paris
4-In-1 Skincare Wand, £122.50 (was £175) | Solawave
ClearSkin 3xpress Beauty Patches, £77 (were £110) | Lustre Skin
After all the merriment of December, I like to give my skin a good break at the start of the year by wearing little to no make-up and being really diligent about my routine. Forget dry January though – where my skin is concerned, I’m all about hydration, and keeping it supple and supported. That starts with my cleanser, Dr David Jack’s Afterglow Cleansing Balm, which dissolves dirt and grime but, thanks to nourishing ceramides, also leaves everything feeling softer and stronger. I’ve also been slathering on a newly discovered product from L’Oréal Paris: the Revitalift Laser Tri Peptide Serum contains macro and micro hyaluronic acid for deep-down hydration, as well as collagen peptide fractions to improve elasticity, and vitamin C for better glow.
While I’d like to start having more regular, targeted facials at Joanne Evans’ brilliant Skin Matters clinic in Holland Park to work on bigger issues like hyperpigmentation, I plan on continuing the good work at home. That means nightly use of my Solawave 4-in-1 Skincare Wand (I love this nifty little gadget for tackling wrinkles, puffiness, dark circles and blemishes) as well as cracking open Lustre’s Clear Skin 3XPRESS Beauty Patches. They use blue and red LED light, and come in two shapes: the Bean for the undereye area and the Triangle for the forehead and cheeks. I love them not just because they’re an easy way to brighten and depuff while I’m sipping my morning coffee, but also because they’re ergonomically contoured to fit the face without falling off.
Create An End-Of-Day Ritual
Pomelo Shower Oil, £15 | ARKET
Sun Through Trees Candle, £54 | Mirror Water
I need no excuse to run myself a hot bath at the end of the day, but it feels almost medicinal in January when it tends to be a bit bleak outside. ARKET’s new bath and body range has exceeded my expectations. I’ve enjoyed everything I have tried, but have fallen for the Pomelo Shower Oil that turns into a milky elixir on contact with water and leaves my skin so soft. The zesty fragrance is also the perfect antidote to bleary-eyed January mornings. While I’m wallowing, I love to light candles and Mirror Water’s Sun Through Trees Candle is my go-to. With notes of bergamot, Canadian black spruce and cedar, it’s warm and bright enough to lift even the gloomiest of winter spirits.
Refresh My Hair Colour
Detox Mask, £28 | Innersense
Nutrition For Hair, £39.97 | Seed & Soul
There’s no getting around the fact that my hair is colour treated and subjected to its fair share of heat styling, which is why a hair reset every so often is a good idea. I plan to start 2025 strong with a Bespoke Head Spa Experience at Cloud Twelve Club, a wellness space in West London. The 17-step hair and scalp treatment includes a celestial-sounding waterfall rinse and medicinal herbal steam mist. I am expecting angelically soft strands afterwards. To maintain a scrupulously clean scalp throughout the month, I want to use Innersense’s Detox Hair Mask once a week. It helps get rid of build-up and daily pollution, and promotes better growth and resilience. Finally, I’ll aim to make a habit of taking my Seed & Soul Supplements, which are specially formulated to prevent hair loss and thinning with a host of targeted ingredients.
Achieve Inside-Out Wellness
Original Fold Reformer, £1,899.99 | Fold Reformer
Functional Fragrance, £125 | The Nue Co.
Although I strive to integrate my beauty, health and wellness regimes all the time, this month I’ll be taking a particularly inside-out approach. Self-care has become a bit of a dirty word, but for me there’s nothing so fortifying for my mental state as looking after my physical one. When it comes to working out, everything else has fallen by the wayside thanks to my new FOLD Reformer Pilates Bed. Like a proud mother showing off a newborn, every person who has set foot inside my house in recent weeks has been treated to a tour of my spare room where this incredible piece of kit now resides. Banish all thoughts of cumbersome exercise equipment though, this state-of-the art reformer folds up neatly to half its size without compromising on quality or performance. Being able to roll out of one bed and onto another in the mornings has been game-changing for both my body and my head. For those wanting a more affordable and accessible way to try reformer, I recommend X Club which has just opened its new space in Mayfair, Berkeley Square. Here you can access 1-1 training, as well as various classes depending on your chosen level and preference. To keep me going when I’m travelling at the end of the month, I plan on downloading Bryony Deery’s Pilates App so I can access her library of 400+ workouts. And finally, to keep me feeling fresh and on form, I’ve taken to spritzing myself pre-workout with The Nue Co.’s Destress Functional Fragrance. Informed by insights about the connection between cognitive function and the olfactory system, its soothing notes of cardamom and coriander are instantly calming.
