Ardfin Hotel, Scotland
The Ardfin opened in late 2019 but quickly had to close due to lockdown restrictions. The big relaunch happens this spring. On the remote Jura island in the Inner Hebrides, the property is set on an impressive 12,000-acre estate of Scottish wilderness, ideal for hikes and stag stalking. Inside, the interiors have everything you’d expect from a luxury Scottish destination, including oak panelling, antique furniture and plush accessories. The region also happens to be home to some of Scotland’s best distilleries, making this one a whisky lover’s dream.

Beaverbrook Townhouse, London
Regular SL readers will know how much we love Beaverbrook in Surrey, so we expect this new project in Sloane Square to be pretty special. Set over two Georgian townhouses, the hotel has 14 suites named after London theatres, all designed by Nicola Harding – the creative force behind some of the UK’s most stylish hotels. Beaverbrook Townhouse also has a Japanese restaurant and bar which will serve a range of contemporary dishes. Whether you stay overnight or drop by for dinner, put this hotel on your summer list.

Artist Residence Bristol
Artist Residence – the hotel chain with properties in London, Brighton, Oxfordshire and Penzance – will open a new location in Bristol this autumn. In the creative St Pauls area, just a few minutes from Bristol’s city centre and Stokes Croft, the hotel is inside a former boot factory. With 23 generous bedrooms, expect the kind of luxe, design-led interiors now synonymous with Artist Residence hotels, including upholstered furniture, eclectic accessories and freestanding baths with Bramley products. There’s also an on-site coffee shop, restaurant, bar, garden and event space.

The Londoner, Leicester Square
Taking centre stage in Leicester Square, The Londoner is billing itself as the world’s first ‘super boutique hotel’. Created by the Edwardian Hotels London Group, it’s had a £300m investment to create a stunning property over 16 floors with 350 rooms and suites, plus a tower penthouse with panoramic views of the city. The hotel also has six eateries, including bars and a tavern, alfresco dining on the ground floor and a contemporary Japanese lounge bar with a rooftop terrace and fire pit. If that wasn’t enough, there’s also a ballroom, spa, swimming pool, gym, hair and nail salon, barber shop and two private screening rooms.

Mondrian Shoreditch, London
Under new management, Mondarin Shoreditch will reopen this spring after a huge refurb. Its 120 bedrooms have been redesigned with contemporary interiors and cool east London-inspired touches. There’ll be a rooftop pool, complete with lido restaurant, a screening room, an open music space and Billy’s Bar – a late-night drinking den. With ten additional hotels set to open by 2021, including sites in Germany, Singapore and Thailand, Mondrian is a group to keep an eye on.

The Farmyard At The Newt, Somerset
If you’re struggling to book a room at The Newt – the staycation destination of 2020 – you’ll be pleased to hear the Somerset-based hotel is expanding its accommodation with the opening of The Farmyard, a renovated former dairy farm offering a further 17 bedrooms. Hidden in a secluded corner of the estate and accessed through cider orchards, The Farmyard has all the charm of the main hotel as well as its own farm-to-table culinary experience, indoor pool, and bar and games room.

The NoMad Hotel, London
The NoMad London is tipped to be one of the capital’s most exciting openings this year. Inside the historic Bow Street magistrates’ court and police station, the 19th-century building has been transformed into a sophisticated space with all the luxury offerings you’d expect from a top hotel. New York-based design studio Roman and Williams is behind the interiors, while Ashley Abodeely will lead the kitchen as executive chef.

The Broadwick Soho, London
Details about The Broadwick are strictly under wraps, but we do know it’s a luxury independent hotel with design from Martin Brudnizki, who has worked on the Wolseley hotel and the iconic Annabel’s. The hotel has 57 rooms, including nine suites and one penthouse, as well as a rooftop cocktail bar and an Italian restaurant by Jamie Poulton and chef Ed Baines.

Callow Hall, Peak District
This hotel has some of the most stunning interiors on this list. Surrounded by ancient woodland and 35 acres of wild open space, Callow Hall is the destination to know about in the Peak District. The property has been transformed by interior designer Isabella Worsley using characterful prints, fabrics and artwork from young British artists. The main house has 15 bedrooms, while there are 11 Woodland Hives and two self-catering Treehouses dotted around the grounds. Guests can enjoy contemporary dishes at the Garden Room restaurant or afternoon tea outside in the Secret Garden. The hotel also has a wellness centre with a gym.

Hart Shoreditch Hotel London
Part of the iconic Hilton collection, this new hotel is on Great Eastern Street. A five-minute walk from Spitalfields market and Brick Lane, locations don’t get much better. There are 11 room options – the King Junior Suites are some of the most stylish – as well as several chic meeting rooms. Barboun, the on-site restaurant and bar, will serve fresh Mediterranean dishes, while guests can enjoy cocktails, games and DJ sets at the Tavla bar. Further down the line, the hotel will welcome BYRD, a cool underground entertainment venue.

Gleneagles Townhouse, Edinburgh
Gleneagles Townhouse is the new sister property to the SL favourite Gleneagles Hotel. With 33 stylish bedrooms, each designed with a nod to the heritage of the building, the townhouse is a great option for a long weekend in Edinburgh. The Yard, Bath
This 14-bedroom property in the centre of Bath, within walking distance of the city’s best restaurants, historic sights and architecture. A great option for families, rooms include king-size beds, REN toiletries and rainfall showers. Lewis & Wood, Katherine Fraser and Scumble Goosie are behind the interiors, while the building itself has been carefully restored by the owners. The Harper, Norfolk
Set to open on 17th May, The Harper is in the quaint village of Langham, just a mile inland from the coast at Blakeney. This boutique hotel has 32 bedrooms ideal for weekend breaks and midweek escapes. With eclectic interiors, exposed beams and original property features, the interiors are just as stylish as the outdoor space –The Yard looks set to be a great spot for some alfresco dining. The Graduate, Cambridge
Inspired by Cambridge University, this boutique hotel set on the river Cam opens this summer. There are several rooms to choose from – the Junior Suite looks great for a romantic weekend for two. Bathrooms are stocked with Malin + Goetz toiletries and there are subtle nods to the university in each room. The group also has a sister hotel opening in Oxford this summer, which looks just as stylish.

The Pig, South Downs
SL readers will know we’re big fans of The Pig, so it’s safe to say we’re excited about the group’s latest opening in the South Downs. Close to the West Sussex coast, Grade II-listed Madehurst Lodge near Arundel was acquired in 2018 and is being renovated in time for its opening this summer. As with every Pig, the kitchens, gardens and restaurant will be at the heart of the hotel – expect delicious, locally sourced food and a relaxing atmosphere.

Kingsland Locke Hotel, Dalston
Kingsland Locke is set to bring a touch of glamour to east London this spring. In stylish Dalston, the hotel has 124 studio apartments, as well as an all-day restaurant, complimentary co-working space, workout studio and coffee shop. The huge ground-floor atrium will welcome workers in the day, then transform into a lively restaurant and bar at night. Kingsland Locke will be home to KRAFT Dalston – the new microbrewery and gin distillery that will also house Le Bab’s fourth restaurant. East London-based studio Red Deer is behind the hotel’s interiors – if the pictures are anything to go by, expect soft colour palettes with some pretty cool furnishings.

The Lost Poet, London
The Lost Poet is a boutique guesthouse opening on Portobello Road in Notting Hill this spring. The four-room townhouse has all the luxury extras you’d expect at a top London hotel. With furnishings and design by House of Hackney, Maison C and The French House, we’re expecting big things. Each bedroom will have a generous lounge area complete with antique furniture and marble en-suite bathrooms.

The Star, Sussex
From the team behind Hotel Endsleigh in Devon and Hotel Tresanton in Cornwall, this new hotel will open its doors in June. The Star is set in a Grade II-listed 16th-century building in the medieval Sussex village of Alfriston. The property has been overhauled with 30 contemporary bedrooms and bathrooms. Tim Kensett (ex- River Café) is heading up the kitchen – guests can expect locally sourced dishes and ales served in an oak-beamed dining room. The Seven Sisters cliffs and the South Downs are both nearby – and absolutely worth exploring.
