The Luxe List: January

The SL team share a selection of their new favourite things. From the latest fashion launches to a beauty must-have, January's Luxe List offers all the inspiration you need...

Tiffany & Co X Fendi

Fendi and Tiffany have joined forces to create a unique Baguette bag. Available in the fine jeweller's instantly recognisable Tiffany Blue, the bag made its debut at the Resort 2023 show and is dropping in stores this month. Each style comes with the Fendi FF Zucca clasp as well as a silver disc featuring Tiffany's iconic logo.

From Damien Chazelle – the man behind La La Land and WhiplashBabylon is an original epic set in 1920s Los Angeles. A tale of outsized ambition and outrageous excess, it traces the rise and fall of multiple characters during an era of unbridled decadence and depravity in early Hollywood. With Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Diego Calva heading up an ensemble cast including Jovan Adepo, Li Jun Li and Jean Smart, this is just the thing to see on the big screen.

Haute Couture SS23

Dreamy, extravagant, magical – Paris Haute Couture Week is where designers show off their most extravagant, artful, fanciful and hand-crafted creations. From 23rd-26th January, names like Giorgio Armani Privé, Schiaparelli, Christian Dior and Giambattista Valli will come together in the French capital to showcase their SS23 haute couture collections with VIPs, editors, celebrities and red-carpet stylists all in attendance. The latter often pluck the best looks straight off the runway in time for awards season.

Follow @HauteCoutureWeek on Instagram for the highlights.

Boys Hall

Husband-and-wife team Brad and Kristie left their hospitality careers in London to create the getaway of their dreams, and have spent three years restoring Boys Hall in Kent to its former glory. The restaurant and bar are now open, with bedrooms to follow later this month. Whether you’re looking to escape for a weekend or longer, Boys Hall offers ten bedrooms, each individually designed with super king luxury beds, Egyptian cotton bedlinen, fluffy towels and the little touches to make you feel right at home. We like the idea of a relaxing soak in one of the roll-top baths – what a way to kick off the new year.

This month sees the launch of the highly anticipated musical Sylvia, directed and choreographed by Kate Prince and starring Beverley Knight as Emmeline Pankhurst. This revolutionary story celebrates the life of Sylvia – feminist, activist, pacifist, socialist, rebel – the lesser-known Pankhurst at the heart of the Suffragette movement, who changed the lives of working women and men across the world. Following its 2018 run as a work in progress, Prince’s Sylvia goes back to where it all began for its world premiere, uniting dance, hip hop, funk and soul to shine a light on a remarkable moment in history, with original music by Josh Cohen and DJ Walde.

Manifest: Dive Deeper by Roxie Nafousi

Roxie Nafousi’s hit book Manifest showed readers how to change their lives. This month, Manifest: Dive Deeper takes you through every step to get there. In this hotly demanded follow-up, Roxie expands readers’ understanding of each of the seven steps to manifestation, providing practical techniques for harnessing your potential and confidently stepping into your power. Each chapter is filled with simple and inspiring exercises designed to cultivate self-awareness, reflection and growth – empowering your manifesting process even more.

Promenade at The Dorchester

The Promenade at The Dorchester is set to return following a transformation by acclaimed designer Pierre-Yves Rochon. Flanked by striking pillars, the space will feature delicate white and soft sage green ceilings finished with gold-leaf accents. Keep an eye out for the Artists’ Bar, a glamorous new area for fun evenings of champagne, seafood and entertainment. Liberace’s legendary mirrored piano has been meticulously restored to take pride of place. Cocktails, served tableside on bespoke trolleys to create a touch of theatre, will reflect the carefully curated collection of art that adorns the walls.

Vivienne Westwood

Along with the rest of the world, we were saddened by the passing of fashion designer and lifelong activist Vivienne Westwood. Known as the ‘Queen of British Fashion’, the legendary designer died at the age of 81 on December 29th 2022. Westwood came to prominence with her controversial designs and anti-establishment attitude in the 1970s and continued to use fashion to express her revolutionary ideas throughout her career. She was a true disrupter of fashion, politics and environmental issues and it was her confrontational voice that changed the landscape of feminist fashion. She was credited with the revival of the British fashion scene and is responsible for some of the most iconic fashion moments in history. We will always remember the iconic sky-high heels that caused Naomi Campbell’s well-documented crash on the catwalk and her flashing the paps knickerless while picking up her OBE in 1992. The Vivienne Foundation, set up by her family this week, aims to continue her work and legacy by creating positive and progressive change in politics, war, climate change and human rights.

In the middle of Morzine in the French Alps, 1,000m up in the world-famous ski region of Portes du Soleil, Hox Chalet is a three-level, six-bedroom luxury mountain lodge complete with barrel sauna, wine cave, hot tub and private plunge pool – plus a Grey Goose vodka bar. From the team behind The Hoxton hotel group, the lodge accommodates up to 12 adults, with six en-suite bedrooms kitted out with ‘Hox-from-home’ touches including bespoke bedding, Roberts radios and Blank toiletries.

Khaite is already one of our go-tos for luxury, polished minimalism and now we have another reason to love the brand. If you’re looking for some January wardrobe inspiration, Khaite’s latest capsule is dedicated to the world of après ski. The 18-piece collection features fair isle knits, puffer jackets and cosy accessories – there’s everything from pom pom balaclavas and mittens to technical base layers and classic pullovers. Performance wear has never looked so good.
