8 London Spots To Try CBD-Infused Food & Drink

Cannabidiol – also known as CBD – was one of 2018’s hottest buzzwords. From beauty products to supplements, this anxiety-busting, non-psychoactive substance has been added to everything – right down to dishes and drinks across the capital. From ‘high’ teas to CBD-laced fro-yo, here are eight places to try this new trend in edible form…

Farmacy was the first venue in London to add CBD to its menu back when it was launched by Camilla Fayed in early 2016. Today, CBD features in both its ‘High Tea’ offering as well as a selection of drinks, such as the ‘OMG Syringe Shot’ (wildcrafted CBD, flaxseed oil and grapefruit), ‘Grass Me Up’ smoothie (organic CBD powder, raw coconut water, pineapple juice, fresh lime juice, house hemp and bay leaf syrup, acai protein powder, hemp seeds and frozen banana), and ‘Something About Mary’ cocktail (organic CBD powder, vanilla infused vodka, house hemp and bay leaf syrup, a dash of chilli sauce, mango puree and lime juice). Beautifully presented on a three-tier stand and decorated with foliage, Farmacy’s plant-based ‘High Tea’ is free from dairy, refined sugars, additives and chemicals. Highlights include a CBD-infused cocktail, CBD chocolates and a pot of hemp leaf tea.

Kalifornia Kitchen

November newcomer Kalifornia Kitchen is passionate about sharing nutritious and sustainable food and drinks, focusing on the power of plants and abstaining from any animal products or harmful plastics. Inspired by the LA health scene – as its name may suggest – this Fitzrovia spot serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and is available via collection or delivery. The team recommends starting your day with one of its CBD lattes. The perfect accompaniment, we hear, to an order of buckwheat and banana pancakes.

Maison Bab

Maison Bab is a new style of kebab house, complete with a picture-perfect setting and hidden ten-seater fine-dining restaurant. The stylish new venture is a collaboration between the founders of Kingly Court’s Le Bab and the team’s executive chef Manu Canales Garces (previously sous chef at the two-Michelin-starred Le Gavroche) who will head up the kitchen at fine-dining Kebab Queen when it opens later this year. New for this site is a focus on vegan dishes – think celeriac shish: miso-marinated celeriac chunks, wrapped with pickled onion rings, toum and chilli sauce – and the excellently named ‘Gin & Chronic’ – a cocktail made of CBD oil, Bombay Sapphire and lemon. This sweet and sour sip is a perfect introduction to anyone keen to get their first taste of CBD.

Farm Girl Café

With cafés in Chelsea, Notting Hill and Soho, Farm Girl offers a bright, casual spot for health-conscious breakfasts and smoothies. Kick things off with one of the team’s extensive selection of coffees (anyone for a ‘Liquid Gold Latte’?) and a fresh watermelon juice, before choosing between the likes of turmeric birchers (oats soaked with turmeric, honey, cinnamon, sesame seeds and almond milk topped with candied nuts and strawberries) or buckwheat pancakes with amber maple syrup, topped with mixed berries and coconut shavings. For something a little more indulgent, the team has introduced a matcha hot chocolate which contains hazelnut (or almond) milk, peppermint, matcha, chocolate powder and CBD oil – delicious. Not ones to do things by halves, customers also have the option to infuse any of their drinks with the oil.

Glow Bar London

Glow Bar is a wellness mecca for women created by Sasha Sabapathy – a brand planner-turned-chef who created the space out of a desire to share the stress management remedies that she’s discovered over the years. Away from treatments, its café is the perfect place for a catch up full of mood-boosting, gut-friendly dishes. When it comes to cannabidiol, there’s the ‘Golden Moon Milk’ (Wunder Workshop Golden Mylk and CBD), and – on Fridays and Saturdays – CBD croissants. The rest of the time, you can choose to add a shot of CBD into any drink for £1.50.

An American export, Notting Hill’s Yogland sells a fun range of frozen yoghurt. But this isn’t just any old fro-yo: everything served is vegan, paleo and gluten friendly.
