READ THIS DEBUT NOVEL: Brother, Sister, Mother, Explorer By Jamie Figueroa

We’re excited about this debut novel from American author Jamie Figueroa which came out earlier this week. Set in a desert town in the American Southwest, Brother, Sister, Mother, Explorer follows the story of two siblings, Rafa and Rufina, who return to their childhood home after their mother’s death. When Rafa confesses to wanting to take his own life, Rufina quickly intervenes and sets them a challenge to desperately try and change his mind – they must perform for privileged tourists in order to afford a plane ticket to start a new life somewhere else. However, as the two get reacquainted with their childhood home, strange hauntings begin to take place, most disturbingly, in the form of their mother’s ghost and Rufina’s stillborn baby. It might sound creepy, but the book has already been tipped for several prestigious awards – we can’t wait to sit down this weekend and get stuck in.
