CATCH THIS NEW FILM: I Care A Lot

Landing on streaming service Netflix on Friday, this new film starring Rosamund Pike and directed by J Blakeson tells the story of crooked legal guardian Marla Grayson (Pike) who regularly drains the savings of her elderly wards. She meets her match, however, when a woman she tries to swindle turns out to be more than she first appears. Described as a “searing swipe at late-stage capitalism”, I Care A Lot is an exhilarating, icy thriller, while Pike’s performance already has critics buzzing – with some calling it her strongest turn since 2014’s Gone Girl.

WATCH THIS WORLD CLASS PERFORMANCE: Raymonda Act III

Available to watch on demand until 14th March 2021, Petipa’s Raymonda Act III – which was created by Marius Petipa in 1898 for the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg – is a Russian classical ballet summarised in one act, full of sparkle and precise technique. It also contains some of Petipa’s most spectacular choreography, with a score by Alexander Glazunov, full of spirited rhythms and lilting waltzes – in fact, legendary American choreographer George Balanchine called it “some of the finest ballet music we have”. Available to watch via the Royal Ballet’s streaming platform for just £3, this performance was originally staged in Covent Garden in 2019, shortly before the onset of the pandemic.

DEVOUR THIS NEW RELEASE: The Panic Years by Nell Frizzell

Every woman will experience the panic years in some way between her mid-20s and early-40s. This maddening period of transformation and personal crisis is recognisable by the myriad of decisions we make – whether it be about partners, holidays, jobs, homes, savings or friendships – all of which are impacted by the urgency of the single decision that comes with a biological deadline, the one decision that is impossible to take back: whether or not to have a baby. Raw, hilarious and honest, author Nell Frizzell sparked a frenzied bidding war among publishers for her book, three years before it even hit the shelves. We can’t wait to hunker down with this long-awaited release.
