CULTURE
High Noon
Screen-to-stage adaptations can be hit or miss but this theatrical reimagining of Fred Zinnemann’s classic Western High Noon comes with serious pedigree. Penned by Oscar-winning screenwriter Eric Roth and starring Billy Crudup and Denise Gough, the production tackles the challenge of translating the film’s tense, allegorical showdown into live theatre. With themes of morality, courage and collective responsibility, and a cast capable of delivering real dramatic weight, it has all the makings of a bold and compelling West End moment.
Harold Pinter Theatre, Panton Street, SW1Y 4DN; until 7th March

FAMILY
Into The Woods
On this week at The Bridge Theatre is the revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Into The Woods directed by rising star Jordan Fein. The story weaves together familiar characters – Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and Jack (of beanstalk fame) – before gently turning their stories upside down in a way that’s funny, thoughtful and surprisingly moving. Visually, it’s a feast: Tom Scutt’s enchanted forest feels lush, magical and just a little bit eerie. While there are clever layers for adults to enjoy, the heart of the show is about wishes, consequences and growing up – making it a great choice for kids.
