What To Do This Weekend 07.08.25

Looking for things to do this weekend? From a dreamy new Japanese restaurant to immersive theatre and nostalgic Britpop exhibitions, here’s what to book now…

FOR FOODIES:

MOI

Soho’s restaurant scene just got a major new addition. MOI – the latest opening from MAD Restaurants – is a contemporary Japanese-inspired spot led by group executive chef Andy Cook. Spread over two stylish floors, the space includes a 150-cover dining room, a private dining area, and an omakase sushi bar for a more intimate experience. Expect refined small plates, skewers and larger sharing grills that mix traditional Japanese techniques with seasonal British produce and house ferments. Highlights include Orkney scallops with juniper kombu, trout nigiri with chive and sesame, and grilled turbot with yuzu kosho butter. There’s also a listening room downstairs that will host music-led events and DJ sets.

FOR BRITPOP FANS:

Open-Air Oasis Exhibition

If you’ve managed to get tickets for the Oasis reunion shows this summer – or are just feeling the 90s nostalgia – make time for this open-air photography exhibition at Wembley Park. Brothers: Liam and Noel Through the Lens of Kevin Cummins features over 20 striking images of the Gallagher brothers, taken just before the release of Definitely Maybe. Capturing candid moments – from their first-ever studio session to the two of them hopping on a London bus – it’s a raw and intimate look at a relationship that helped shape British music history. The large-format photographs, displayed along Olympic Way, are free to view.

Olympic Way, Wembley Park, Wembley HA9 0NP; until 30th September

FOR THEATRE OBSESSIVES:

Good Night, Oscar

Straight from Broadway, Good Night, Oscar is one of the summer’s most exciting theatre transfers. Sean Hayes – best known as Jack from Will & Grace – gives a career-defining performance as Oscar Levant, a pianist, actor and razor-sharp wit who appears as a guest on Jack Paar’s late-night TV show in 1958. What unfolds is a darkly funny, emotionally charged portrayal of brilliance, mental illness and fame in post-war America. Written by Pulitzer Prize-winner Doug Wright, the production has earned rave reviews for its biting dialogue and Hayes’s electric energy on stage. Catch it at the Barbican.

Barbican Centre, EC2Y 8DS; until 21st September

FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY:

The Traitors: Live Experience

Love the BBC show? Now you can play it in real life. The Traitors: Live Experience drops you into a dramatic game of deception, alliances and betrayals inside a custom-built ‘castle’ set in Soho. Guided by a host, you’ll take on missions, make your case at The Round Table and figure out who’s bluffing – all while trying to stay in the game. Interiors channel the series’ moody aesthetic, with velvet booths, dramatic lighting and vintage props. Plus, you can debrief with a drink in the Cloak & Dagger bar afterwards.

FOR GREEN THUMBS:

In Bloom

This new exhibition explores a surprisingly wholesome side of the capital: station gardens. A collaboration between the National Trust, Seed130 and Transport for London, In Bloom documents the individuals and communities who’ve transformed tube platforms into colourful green spaces. British-Congolese artist Bernice Mulenga has captured portraits of the gardeners behind Edgware Road, Upminster, Hainault and more, with supporting films and rarely seen archive material from the London Transport Museum. As well as showcasing urban nature in action, the exhibition highlights how tending to these mini oases helps foster connection and calm in one of the world’s busiest transport systems.

Seed130, 130 Fenchurch Street, EC3M 5LY; until 1st October

FOR LITTLE ONES:

The Tiger Who Came To Tea

Judith Kerr’s beloved picture book returns to the West End this summer, in a live adaptation that’s ideal for young children and first-time theatregoers. The Tiger Who Came To Tea follows Sophie and her mum as their quiet afternoon is disrupted by a tiger who shows up unannounced and – unsurprisingly – eats everything in sight. Featuring catchy songs, clever set design and plenty of laughs, the show keeps little ones engaged from start to finish. With performances under an hour, it's a great shout for families looking for a cultural day out over the summer holidays.
