Devon-based artisan cake maker The Exploding Bakery is bringing its bakes to the capital for the first time. It’s popping up for a month at Paddington’s Pilgrm hotel. Expect the classics – like salted caramel brownies – as well as some more off-the-wall creations like zucchini, lime and rosemary cakes.

Marceline is the latest in a string of cool restaurant openings in Canary Wharf. Across the dining room and onto the terrace, the décor is inspired by Parisian brasseries, with a dash of New York coolness. The menu stays true to the French classics – the kitchen is headed up by Robert Aikens who got his start working with the Roux brothers. For entrées and mains, you can expect familiar dishes like escargots de Bourgogne, French onion soup and steak tartare. Make sure to save room for the warm madeleines with pistachio and the profiteroles.

Sister by Studio Ashby, the creative venture from interior designer Sophie Ashby, has announced a series of artist residencies. Handpicked by Sophie, the line-up features four female artists from around the world known for their vibrant contemporary work in photography, painting and print. Kicking off the series is London photographer Lily Bertrand-Webb's exclusive collection, The Flâneuse, followed by Canadian painter Anne Griffiths, and South African artists Amber Moir and Anico Mostert.

Pophams is bringing its Pophams Home range to central London for the first time. Open from September, the pop-up shop will showcase handcrafted homewares for coffee, pastries and everyday life.
