Chestertons Polo in the Park returns to Hurlingham on Friday 9th to Sunday 11th June. The world's largest three-day polo festival always kicks off the capital’s summer social season – so here’s everything you need to know about it, including the Ladies Day presented by SheerLuxe…

Created in partnership with POLO IN THE PARK

Chestertons Polo in the Park is back – and once again SheerLuxe is hosting the Ladies Day on the Saturday. Held at Hurlingham Park – the spiritual home of polo – from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th June this year, the festival marks the beginning of the capital’s summer social season.

the HISTORY

Chestertons Polo in the Park is the biggest three-day polo event in the world. Hurlingham Park has been considered the home of polo since 1875, when the Hurlingham Polo Committee drew up the first formal rules of the game. In the 150 years since the first game of polo was played in the UK, it’s grown into a much-loved sport, which typically draws an international crowd of both beginners and seasoned fans.

Polo is now played in 77 countries, from the US, Central and South America and the Caribbean, to Europe, the Middle East, India, South East Asia, China, Australia and New Zealand. Over the course of the weekend, there will be six city teams competing from across the globe, representing Sydney, Buenos Aires, New York and London.

the LADIES DAY PRESENTED BY SHEERLUXE

The SheerLuxe-sponsored event will host six city teams competing across the weekend and an international match between England and Ireland competing for the Olympic trophy. Guests will enjoy live music, DJs, a luxury shopping village and fabulous gardens and bars created by the likes of Mahiki. Champagne Lanson will be on hand with its rosé champagne garden.

the WEEKEND

Throughout the three-day event, there will be an array of new food and drink pop-ups and VIP hospitality on offer. Sunday’s Family Day is great for children – the morning will kick off with a ‘pitch invasion’ hosted by much-loved children’s party entertainers Sharky and George, plus kids’ games, the opportunity to learn to play polo or improve rugby and football skills, and activities at the Little Hooves Kids Club.

Elsewhere, the Fulham Food Festival is a big draw and will feature some of London’s most popular restaurants and street food vendors, including burgers from Argentine steak restaurant Gaucho, pizza by Freewheelin’, ribs by BBQ Dept, fried chicken at Chick N Sours and Mumbai street food from Curry On Naanstop.
