The Luna Winter Cinema

The Luna Cinema returns to Kensington Palace on Saturday 10th December for another season of festive films. Over the next two weeks, guests can sit on chairs or beanbags in the Pavilion on the Orangery lawn to watch family favourites like Home Alone, Love Actually, Elf, The Holiday, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Bridget Jones’s Diary, and Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Treat yourself to mulled wine, mince pies and popcorn before the film starts, or tuck into homemade cakes from Figs Bakery.

We’re big fans of LoveShackFancy’s feminine, bohemian designs, so we were excited to find out its opened a first London store in Notting Hill. Now one of the capital’s prettiest retail destinations, the shop has pink interiors with vintage furniture and bouquets by renowned florist Moyses Stevens. Shoppers can browse maxi dresses, ruffled blouses and sequin dressed for the party season, then try them on in the three dressing rooms. Look out for the new RE23 collection and the vintage edit for something unique.

FEEL FESTIVE:

Greenwich Peninsula

Greenwich Peninsula has an exciting roster of activities this Christmas. The main square has been transformed into an enchanted forest with faux frosted trees and twinkly lights. Over the next few weeks, visitors can watch Christmas films at the pop-up cinema (from £6pp), take part in wreath-making workshops with florist Bloom East, enjoy carols and mulled wine, and enjoy DJs every week night until Christmas. Tonight, and on Friday 9th December, adults can listen to live jazz music at Bureau in the Design District, while little ones can take part in kids’ table craft sessions each weekend from 11:30am to 3:30pm at Canteen.

Soho Live Music Club Events

Soho Live Music Club has announced its line-up of December events. Across three Soho venues – The Boulevard, The Piano Bar and The Shed – guests can listen to live jazz from world-class musicians from just £5. Highlights include a performance by saxophonist JD Allen at The Boulevard (8th-10th December), the Soho Live All Stars Christmas Ball at The Boulevard featuring three jazz acts on each night (14th-17th December), Aydenne Simone – otherwise known as Big Mama – at Piano Bar (23rd December), and a special performance by Django Hot Club and Matt Holborn (29th December). A year’s membership costs £25 and gets you exclusive access to all three venues, as well as invitations to special events and performances.

Printworks

After countless raves and DnB performances over the last five years, Printworks is closing its doors next year. If you want to party at the warehouse venue one last time, tickets have just gone on sale for its final season in 2023. From Saturday 4th February to Monday 1st May 2023, there are 40 shows to choose from, headlined by acts and collectives like Honey Dijon, Deadmau5, The Martinez Brothers, Hot Since 82, Defected and Jayda G. Highlights include nights by Glitterbox, Ants and Fabric, plus live classical shows from Aurora Orchestra, the Southbank Centre and the London Symphony Orchestra. Tickets start from £15.

Lynette Yiadom-Boakye At Tate Britain

Lynette Yiadom-Boakye has a new exhibition at Tate Britain. The Black British painter and writer is known for her oil paintings, inspired by an archive of found images or people who are entirely imagined. Each painting is created in spontaneous and instinctive bursts, with short brushstrokes and dark colours. This exhibition features over 70 paintings from her 20-year career, including works from her graduate exhibition and three new paintings. Look out for ‘Condor and the Mole’, a poignant painting of two young Black girls playing on the beach.

Chef Sophie Taverner and wine consultant Sarah Jones are the duo behind Kin., which creates fun supper clubs and dining events with music from some of the best DJs in the capital. On Thursday 15th December from 6pm to 10pm, the team is hosting a supper club at Benk&Bo in east London. Diners can listen to music from DJ Erica McKoy while tucking into a five-course meal consisting of squid ragu empanadas; milk bread with girolles and lardo; crab bisque with spelt risotto; crispy pork belly with roast apple, morcilla and tardivo; and chestnut choux au craquelin for dessert. Meanwhile, Sarah will present a selection of her favourite low-intervention wines to pair with the seasonal menu. Tickets cost £76pp.
