DRINK: Mermaid Gin

Mermaid Gin, made in the Isle of Wight, is a handmade, small-batch gin made using ten botanicals which are sourced for quality and blended to create a fresh and complex flavour profile. These botanicals include locally foraged rock samphire and elderflower, fresh citrus zest from Sicilian lemons, hops grown in the gardens of Ventnor, coriander from Sussex, plus orris root, angelica root, liquorish root and juniper. The gin is slow-distilled, cut with island chalk-fed spring water and rested for seven days before being bottled on the island to give a smooth delivery and invigorating flavour. We love the bottles too.

MAGAZINE: Homme Girls

“There is a boy in every girl, an homme in every woman. Dressing like a man doesn’t disguise a woman’s femininity – it ignites it.” So declares the mission statement of new fashion magazine Homme Girls, which focuses on androgyny and celebrates women who like to dress like men. Citing Joan of Arc, Yves Saint Laurent and Commes de Garcons as influences, issue one of the magazine features Othilia Simon as its cover star, shot by Cass Bird.

BRAND: Dos Gardenias

Luxury LA brand Dos Gardenias is the name to know for stylish swimwear this summer. A favourite of the style set (their creations have been spotted on Anna Vitiello, Sophia Roe and Debora B Rosa), slick one pieces in block shades are impossibly flattering – sub for a body and wear with a midi skirt to make them work harder.

STORE: The Drug Store

CBD retailer The Drug Store has opened its first bricks-and-mortar boutique in Marylebone. Spanning two floors, the store is a celebration of all things CBD, taking the customer on an immersive journey to discover the power behind this natural ingredient. With a nod to its previous incarnation as an exhibition space for Damien Hirst, The Drug Store’s chic, minimal store design is reminiscent of an art gallery. Within, the store has two treatment rooms offering a seasonal menu of CBD spa services.

INSTAGRAMMER: @90sAnxiety

You only need to take one look at this season’s deluge of tight tank tops and kitten heel shoes to know the fashion world has gone 90’s mad this season. And now millennials after either sartorial inspo or a walk down memory lane (or both) should be following Insta account, 90s Anxiety. Throwback images include golden-era Kate and Naomi shots, outfit inspiration c/o Princess Diana and some of the best style from the decade that glorified low-slung jeans and bandana tops.

RESTAURANT: Eggslut

Already one of the most popular casual dining destinations in California, Eggslut will throw open its doors on 7th August at a prime spot on Portobello Road. The new site will serve Eggslut’s fresh made-to-order eggs using the highest-quality locally-sourced ingredients, such as Clarence Court eggs and Bread Ahead dough. We like the sound of ‘The Fairfax’ (a sandwich made from soft scrambled eggs and cheese, served in a brioche bun) and ‘The Slut’ (a poached egg on top of a smooth potato puree, poached in a glass jar and served with baguette slices).

HORROR-VACUI.COM

DESIGNER: Horror Vacui

There’s a new prairie dress brand in town, and this one is bigger, bolder and more floral than ever before. Horror Vacui takes that nightgown look to the max – that means oversized pie-crust necklines, puff sleeves with frill trimming and dramatic wide cuffs that wouldn’t look out of place in a period drama. Add a leather biker and boots for the coolest possible contrast.
