See Inside A Pilates Pro’s Gym Bag
Mornings set the tone for everything that follows. Running a studio and being a mum can be chaotic but I’ve fine-tuned my routine to make it work. Hydration is non-negotiable and I swear by my REMplenish bottle. Unlike a standard water bottle, it slows the flow of water, which naturally slows your breathing. It might sound niche but it turns hydration into a mindful reset rather than a rushed task – and over a long day, that really adds up. When I don’t have it with me, I genuinely notice the difference in my energy by the evening.
I always start the day with ProArgi9+. It gives me the electrolytes and hydration support I need before the day really starts – especially when I’m teaching back-to-back and can easily forget to drink enough water. I see it as laying the foundations for stamina rather than chasing energy later on.
Overnight oats are my go-to breakfast. They’re simple, reliable and keep me going. I prep them the night before in a Kilner jar so they’re easy to grab and throw into my bag. When mornings start early and schedules shift, knowing I have something nourishing and steady on hand makes a big difference to my energy and focus. Protein powder is another staple – I use it to blend a smoothie with cacao nibs, date, banana, chia seeds and milk.
Supplements come with me too. I keep them in a small organiser – so much easier than rattling around with half a dozen bottles. I don’t take the same thing every day – I rotate depending on what my body needs. I usually pull from Lily & Loaf and Nature’s Sunshine – both offer simple, trustworthy formulations. I don’t guess with supplements – I work with what my body needs. I’ve been seeing a kinesiologist for over 20 years, which keeps everything tailored rather than reactive. Right now, I’m focused on vitamin D support, mental and physical resilience and gut health. During times of the year when I feel less robust, I’ll also add a bone supplement to support strength and recovery.
Nitric oxide mints are my secret weapon. Fygg’s functional mints look like ordinary mints but they support nitric oxide production, which helps with circulation and oxygen delivery. When you’re on your feet teaching for hours, that really makes a difference. I love that they’re effortless – just pop one in for a gentle boost that isn’t too stimulating.
When headspace is limited, I eliminate small decisions. I’ll either take a class at the studio or do one on my Lifebody app. I love that the thinking is already done – the sessions are intelligently sequenced to build strength over time rather than jumping between workouts. That structure is what makes consistency realistic, even during busy weeks.
I live in Varley. My wardrobe needs to transition from the studio to meetings and Varley pieces always deliver. They’re clean, elevated and unfussy – perfect for early mornings. I wear their jumpers on repeat – warm enough to teach in, relaxed yet polished. The matching sets are another staple – put-together without trying too hard. The Barbie leggings are a firm favourite, too. They’re firm and high-waisted but never feel restrictive. The Foeburn Market Tote is my everyday bag – it fits everything I need without screaming ‘gym bag’ and it’s easy to carry whether I’m walking or on the Tube.
For trainers, I’m loyal to New Balance. I’m on my feet all day, so comfort and support matter. I like that the styles are well cushioned without feeling clunky and supportive without being overly rigid.
If I could take only one piece of equipment with me, it would be my Pilates ring. It’s light, easy to travel with and gives you resistance without needing a full setup. I use it for everything from warming up the shoulders and hips to adding resistance to core work and leg sequences. What I like most is that it gives you something to work into – it helps you feel the movement more clearly and stay precise, even in short sessions. When I’m busy or away from the studio, it means I can still do focused, effective work without overcomplicating things.
At the end of the day, recovery is about slowing everything down. I’m a big fan of magnesium baths, especially after hours on my feet. I use the BetterYou bath flakes – they’re simple, effective and do the job. It’s one of the best ways I know to wind down the nervous system and let the body recalibrate.
When teaching and filming fall on the same day, a few beauty products save me. I’ve used Erborian CC Cream for years – it smooths out skin tone, takes the edge of tiredness and never feels heavy. And AKT deodorant is one of those rare products that actually works – it lasts, and feels good to use.
