We love The Ivy Chelsea Garden on the King’s Road. The children’s menu has lots of options and the portions are huge – perfect for tween appetites. It’s also lovely people watching for the parents – plus, it’s shady. I also recommend Din Tai Fung in Covent Garden. My first two children were born in Singapore and it was their favourite restaurant, so we were thrilled when it came to London (they have robots as waiters, which the kids love). Afterwards, we always get ice cream and watch the street performers in the piazza. Finally, the farmers’ market in Duke of York Square in Chelsea on a Saturday offers lots of choice for children.

Weirdly, my kids love sushi, so Sticks N’ Sushi is a hit in my household. My children love to order the kid’s bento box, which caters for more adventurous eaters with raw fish but there’s also a simpler option for fussier eaters or younger children. They have restaurants in Battersea, Canary Wharf, Chelsea, Covent Garden, Greenwich, Wimbledon, Soho and more. Closer to home, Numero Uno on Northcote Road is a great, family-run, neighbourhood Italian. It's warm, welcoming and reliably good with generous bowls of pasta and a lovely local atmosphere. Then Daddy Bao in Tooting is a good option if your children are up for trying something new. The bao buns and fried chicken are always a big hit and the training chopsticks make my kids so happy.

We have a three-year-old and she is treated like a princess every time we go to La Famiglia. They take the kids’ orders pretty much as soon as you sit down, which is ideal if your child won't sit still. It’s a lovely, relaxed environment and feels very authentically Italian. For lunch, we love Granger & Co; there are lots of menu options that aren’t your usual kids’ food choices. For breakfast, our go-to is Corner Shop – probably more for my husband and I than our little one, as the food is so good – but our daughter loves to see what’s going on in the kitchen. We always come home with some goodies too.

We love Petersham Nurseries in Richmond. It has everything: a dreamy setting, delicious food and it really feels like you’re escaping the hubbub of London (perfect in the summer holidays). It’s also a great location for a walk around Richmond Park before or after. As a family, we also rate Big Easy on the King’s Road. The kids’ menu includes a main, soft-serve ice cream and drink for £8.50. Brunch spot The Table on Battersea Rise is another excellent choice. It has a young crowd, great gluten-free options and serves pancakes.

We try to visit Anya Hindmarch’s Ice Cream Project every year. The kids love tasting all the unusual flavours and I let them each choose their two favourites before we wander down towards Sloane Square. It’s become a bit of a tradition for us. Heard Burger is on our list – it looks brilliant. The kids can build their own burgers, which keeps them entertained. Soho House isn’t technically a restaurant but if you’re a member, it’s definitely worth checking out. Lots of the Houses have brilliant activities for children that you can book while you have lunch. There are also plenty of things you can do together as a family, so it’s one of my favourite recommendations. Finally, The Kids Table is such a clever concept. They partner with restaurants and pubs across London and provide DBS-checked playworkers who run crafts, games and activities for children while you enjoy your meal. It’s a brilliant way to ensure everyone has a lovely time.
