Many of our clients want a calm, private retreat – somewhere to switch off from the pace of daily life and family living. For us, it’s the perfect opportunity to create a layered, cocooning space. Here, I’ve built a tonal story of soft ochres, russet and muted olive, allowing the space to feel warm and restful. The playful waves on the headboard are subtly echoed in the scalloped pendant and the movement within the rug. We’ve mixed materials to add depth and interest, pairing burl wood and brass with soft linens, velvets and bouclés. Layered, low-level lighting is fundamental in a bedroom scheme. A fabric pendant works particularly well, softening the light and contributing to a more relaxed vibe.

The secret to achieving that relaxed, elevated feel is all in the layering. Even the most beautiful scheme can fall flat without a mix of textures and materials to bring it to life. Here we’ve built the space around warm antique oak tones, while touches of black give it a bit of edge. Everything is grounded by the rug, which is a modern interpretation of a traditional pattern. This stops everything from feeling flat or overly tonal. It’s a subtle contrast but it makes all the difference. Texture is key – think mohair, velvet and cashmere. Soft, tactile fabrics instantly make the space feel more inviting. To stop things feeling too ‘done’, we’ve introduced a few more playful details. The tassel wall light adds a slightly unexpected, decorative element that lifts the whole scheme. We’ve also focused on balancing shapes. Softer, curved forms, like the upholstered headboard, rounded lamps and armchair are offset by the more structured lines of the folding screen behind the bed. It’s this mix that makes the space feel more considered.

A bedroom is, above all, a place to relax and restore. This scheme has been shaped around a quiet sense of calm and understated elegance, layered with texture and detail to create interest without ever overwhelming the space. Antique pieces ground the room in history, while marble and brass introduce a sense of sophistication. Softer elements, like the gentle lines of the pendant and the fluid form of the mirror, bring lightness and femininity. Natural linen curtains, finished with a delicate embroidered edge, enhance this softness, adding depth through fine detailing.

In this country house scheme, the goal was to craft a space where unapologetic luxury met lived-in comfort. The colour palette is anchored by a deep chocolate velvet headboard, providing a grounded, sculptural focal point that feels both timeless and modern. By blending contemporary silhouettes, like the blackened-bronze branch chandelier, with the warmth of bobbin-leg wood tones and marble accents, the space feels as though it has been thoughtfully curated over time. The success of the scheme lies in its rich layering of textures. This mix of materials creates a visually engaging yet peaceful atmosphere, ensuring the bedroom is not just a place to sleep but a tactile and inviting retreat that balances high-end style with essential functionality.

This bedroom scheme focuses on warmth, texture and that lovely balance between softness and structure. I wanted it to feel grounded and cocooning, so I’ve mixed warm oak, earthy textiles and darker, more sculptural elements to create a space that feels calm but never flat. The timber pieces bring a sense of craft and quiet warmth, while the lighting and accent pieces give the room depth. Clay-toned linen, woven cushions and a wool throw keep everything feeling easy, relaxed and inviting – the kind of bed you want to fall straight into. The jute rug and curtain fabric add autumnal warmth, while the artwork brings a note of richness and soul. The result is a bedroom that feels calm and considered but still full of personality – a place to hunker down and switch off.

The philosophy behind this bedroom scheme lies in the balance between contemporary restraint and characterful detailing. Neutral, modern pieces are layered with stronger accents and curated vintage elements, such as the Art Deco silver plated coffee set and the oak sideboard to create depth. The bespoke Cinque Terre side tables in burr timber and Calacatta Viola with the antique brass egg table lamp introduce richness and material contrast, while the limewash walls add a subtle interplay of texture; this calm backdrop allows for moments of colour (like the Gallery M.A.H artwork) to stand out. The canopy bed and teddy armchair were selected to enhance a sense of comfort and quiet elegance, making the room feel inviting and composed. Stronger finishes, including marble and metal, are balanced by crisp white bed linen (by under) and simple white Roman blinds, ensuring the overall atmosphere remains light.
